We have an Onan 4000 gen. in our C-Chevy 450 chassis w/6.0 gas engine. Our chassis gas tank has to be 1/4 plus full for it to run. We had to replace the carb and fuel filter, air filter-thru Amazon-and runs great now.

Few years ago we purchased a used 2017 F.R. Forester 2251LE on a Chevy 450 chassis with 6.0 gas engine. The DLR had gone thru it and it was still under Factory warranty. It's 24ft and has rear slide for camper queen bed. We wanted a Chevy chassis instead of Ford or Mercedes. Also, stove oven as well as microwave, side windows in overhead berth, V8 gas engine, rear mounted spare tire and ladder. Had about 7000 miles on it-had been a leased vehicle-now has 18,000 miles on it. Haven't had any problems. Love being able to take it any where we want to go. Even at Ca. State Park system it's considered a regular size vehicle.

Great to see you back-really nice looking RV. Few years ago we sold the A.F. 5'vr and got a smaller Class C. Easier to get around and now wife will drive.

In 2002 we bought our 1st Camper-5th wheel-an Arctic Fox 28 5D-Bunk model-not made anymore. Didn't have problems to speak of-kids grew up-bought a larger Arctic Fox 5th wheel-29 5T. Pulled both with an F250-6.0 Diesel,FX4,4x4,Super Duty, Crew Cab. The 2nd A.F. had about 50,000 miles on it. From So. Ca. had been to Yukon Terr.-all over B.C.- coast to coast U.S.A., and all over western U.S. A.F. is made by Northwood Mfg., in La Grande, OR. They are well made-Northwood makes the Trailer and the Camper-they are a 4 seasons RV-built for going off/on road-has shock absorbers. https://northwoodmfg.com/. Am now older-have a Class C.

Agree with other posters-take a look at Northwood MFG products, in La Grande, Or. They make Nash, Arctic Fox, etc. we owned 2 Arctic Fox 5th wheel and really used them-last one-a 29 5T- had over 40,000 miles on it.

RE: how do you follow weather on the road
We have an App on our cell-RadarNow. It gives radar view-also shows how/where the weather is moving and indicates what kind of weather. Have used it all over U.S., Canada, anywhere we might go in RV or just traveling.

We have a 2017 F. R. Forester LE on a 450 Chevy chassis with the 6.0 gas engine. Purposely got the Chevy with a gas engine. No problem with foot room-driver or passenger side-plenty of foot and leg room. Also, no heat coming up thru floor on passenger side.

RE: What do you use for local travel once camped up?
We have used Uber for local shopping. Have the Uber App on cell-call them, they pick us up at campground office. Uber drivers make great tour guides, for best restaurants, places to visit, best marketing, etc. Rented a car once for a week stay.

Last year we stayed at Pima County Fairgrounds, Vail, Az. with full hook-up and WIFI for $27.00/night--w/Good Sam Discount. This is S. Tucson area off I 10. Definitely would go back there.

We have a 24ft. Class C and No toad. At 24ft. we can pretty much take it everywhere we would want to go. Also, we can and have used UBER and twice rented a car. Considering the cost of a Toad-Ins, Maintenance, Tires, Etc. compared to an Uber ride(usually about $7.00) to renting a it just isn't worth it to us.

We went from towing a 32ft. Arctic Fox 5th wheel w/F250 CC long bed Diesel to a 24ft. Class C. The "C" is so much easier to drive, park, back up, etc.We miss the space, comfort of the 5'vr but don't miss having 50+ feet going down the road. And, now my wife drives which is great. Also,being the "C" is only 24ft.-don't need a toad-we take it anywhere we want to go. If need be we have used Uber and once rented a car for a week. I am 77 and not about to give up traveling and exploring.

We were in S. Az. 2 weeks ago-from S. Ca. Primarily traveled 1 10.Some major things should keep in mind this time of year-the wind gusts hitting you broadside, of course the weather and the truckers. The truckers own the road and there are a lot of them on the road right now trying to get supplies to stores. On I 10 we would see 10-15 truck caravan's-some traveling 70-80 mph. There are more truckers on the road than private vehicles.

We have a 24ft Class C-bought it used from a Dlr. Were looking for a Chevy chassis with V8 gas engine Definitely didn't want a diesel. Diesel is very expensive for maintenance, oil changes, etc. If you have any problems-Chevy/Ford are a lot easier to find repair facilities. We can go anywhere in U.S. or Canada and there is always a place to get work done. Also, at 60,000 miles there will be repairs-probably reason owner is getting rid of it.

We received 2 of the new RV magazine. Previously, was getting Trailer Life and MotorHome magazines. Definitely letting 1 run out-will wait to see what develops to see if we keep 2nd subscription. Have been getting the 2 Mag's. for years-currently have a Class C-used to have an Arctic Fox 5th wheel. Figured they would put it together-1 person doesn't need 2 RV magazines-but, oh well my dog will now get his own copy.
