RE: Anyone towing a TT with new Silverado 1500, 3.0L diesel?

Curious as to what the payload is on a 3.0.

RE: Servicing Wheel Bearings

The older cars had serviceable wheel bearings same as a trailer. I used to repack mine at 30K intervals.

RE: To Upgrade TV or Not

Switching to "E" rated tires on my F150 took out the squishy - squirmy feeling.

I do not know what the difference is between Ford's standard and max tow package; but my choice would be max tow with 3:55, especially with that engine. I had a F150 with the standard tow package - get the max tow package.

+1 for 303. I use it on anything rubber.

RE: How often and how to clean black tank

I also have the luxury of being able to dump at home. I'll empty the tank at the campground. When I get home I have a clear elbow and will let the on-board flush run until the water is clear. Then I'll use my home-made toilet wand and keep rinsing until the water runs clear again and the sensor reads Empty. It's surprising how much more "stuff" comes out using the toilet wand after the tank rinser.

RE: Water refill when dry camping

I picked up a 20 gallon potable water tank off Craigslist. It's strapped down in the truck bed on a 14" tall stand I made. I fill it at a spigot and it gravity feeds into the trailer's tank.

RE: Can I use 20 amp service

I ran a dedicated 20A line from the house breaker box to my garage. It'll run my AC with minimal voltage drop.

RE: Wet and dry bulb comfort measurements

I used to work in an airflow lab. We had a battery powered wet-dry bulb psychrometer to measure humidity.

RE: Opinion on model of TT

ford truck guy..I have actually been to a lot of previous shows and hope to see one the year if the big C settles down. I'm still leaning towards a trailer that's a couple of years old..Let the previous owner deal with the depreciation and repairs hopefully. lynnmor..IT's the 3.5 EcoBoost, with trailer package bringing it to 12700 lbs. And Deb and Ed..Thanks for the link I will have a look. Cheers Al Ah, yes. But the limiting factors on a 1/2-ton are payload and rear axle rating. Both of these can be found on the driver side door pillar. I had a F150 with the 3.5EB. When it was time for a new truck by the time I added all the heavy tow options to the F150 I made the jump to the F250.

RE: New TT bargaining...

X2 barter till it hurts, they can knock off 25/30 % in the blink of a eye. only deal on out the door price. when your happy buy. Pre-COVID that was true. Now the entire world has decided that the RV is the perfect socially-distanced vacation, dealer inventory is at an all time low and factories can't keep up. I see that RV.usa has this model listed with an MSRP of $28k, so that's one data point. There are dealers on the web that have these in stock, and there is always somebody willing to give you a lower price. The question is how much time/effort/travel are you willing to invest chasing a lower price? Also keep in mind that many RV dealers will only do warranty work on units that they sell. Unlike automotive brands, RV manufacturers won't force a dealer to provide warranty work on a unit just because they sell that brand, they allow a dealer to only perform warranty work work on the units sold at that dealership. There were a few online "virtual" dealers with no overhead that were undercutting local dealers on price, so the manufacturers allowed this as a way for the local dealers to "fight back". And add in the fact the factories were shut down for a few months.

RE: Thinking of New Aluminum Sided Travel Trailer

My brother had an aluminum sided trailer that the siding developed corrosion perforations. No sure, but I heard the Grand Design Transcend line of trailers use a plastic siding instead of aluminum.

RE: RV Sales Push

I think there will be a lot of used RV’s on the market next year. I suspect a lot of these buyers are buying them on a bit of a whim. On a normal cycle a lot of owners realize that RVing is not as idealistic as the videos purport and sell them after one or two seasons. I have the same opinion.

RE: Grand Design 2018 Imagine 2500RLS

Great! Not many people get their rigs weighed. "I never weighed it but I know I'm under" and "Tows great" are the answers I see. Have you weighed it without the WD bars connected? Curious to see how much weight transfer you have. Edit - there are several active Facebook pages for Grand Designs and Imagines. There are also a few owners groups:

Towing with my F250 6.2, I use tow-haul but lock out 6th gear because it hunts too much.

RE: New trailer, new challenges

3 trailers ago I bought an IOTA-55 deck mount converter for a trailer we had. That converter now resides in the pass-through of our current trailer. The WFCO is turned off at the breaker and is only used as an AC / DC distribution panel. I have a MPPT controller also mounted in the pass-through and connected to the dual golf cart batteries. Many of our dry sites are shaded so I have two 100W panels that I made portable. Even with 100' of cable I get 140W out of them. The final backup is my old Honda 2000.

RE: RV Sales Push

People aren't flying so they say "Let's buy a RV!" Couple that with the plant shutdowns the manufacturers had, and you have a sellers market. Yeah, in a year or 2 the used market will be a glut. My neighbor told me a friend of his bought a RV last year, toured the country with it, and just sold it for what he paid for it.
