RE: New Tires Lighten my Wallet

I have Michelin XPS Ribs on my 5th wheel. They are currently 6 years old. Leaving for a 1000 mile trip today. Tires look great but I know they're getting old. Trailer is always stored in covered shaded area so no sun on tires unless on the road. Thinking 7 years is about when I should buy new.

RE: Wine Country north of San Francisco

Many years ago we used to visit Napa Valley frequently. Nice wines, wasn't crowded and was affordable. Not any more. So many are up to $50+ to taste. Couple of our favorites are Sequoia Grove and Plumpjack. Instead, try Sonoma area wineries. Some are expensive but plenty are $25 or less to taste. East of San Francisco is Livermore with quite a few good wineries. I agree with many who love Paso Robles wineries. If anyone needs a list of recommendations I have been to the majority of wineries in Paso. Many excellent ones and few to avoid. Further south we also love the Buellton/Solvang wineries.

RE: Dometic Awning LED strip very very dim.

Well We are just 2 of many people that prefer to sit and enjoy nature, night stars and the sounds of silence and those LED lights are still too bright for both of us!…Hope you turn them off, thank You…. I too enjoy nature. We spend most of our time outside the trailer. Very difficult to eat dinner when I cannot see food! Sure can use lanterns etc. but those have their own set of issues. If you enjoy the silence then camp further away from others where lights are not an issue!! Boondocking is awesome, far way from anyone.

Dometic Awning LED strip very very dim.

My 5th wheel is now 7 years old. The LED strip on the underside of awning has become very dim. All leds are lit just dim. Hard to look at wiring as it is buried inside trailer walls except for a few inches at the end of the led strip. When trailer was new these lights were very bright. Is it common for led strips to become dimmer with age rather than individual leds completely fail? New Dometic brand strip is $99 on Amazon but I see numerous odd brand strips for as little as $20. Any of the cheap strips good?

RE: CA National Forests closed for two weeks

Arizona had closed all forests in July due to fires. This included 4th of July weekend. They had nearly all roads into the forests blocked with forest service, police and others stationed at the road entrances. Even the small dirt forest service roads had someone stationed there to block. Could get thru only if you could prove you lived there. Private campgrounds were opened but nearly all had a no open flame policy. AZ has had quite a bit of monsoon rains lately so they lifted the bans in most areas. Hope CA gets some rain as well.

RE: Alternatives for Michelin XPS Ribs?

Your trailer's OE tire size was ST225/75R15. Many of the ST tire manufacturers now provide that size with a steel cased LRF. OE tire is 16" on the 2014 26FWRKS. I believe they changed to 15" in 2015 and later along with a lower rated axle. Glad I got the 2014!
