RE: Dentist in Mexico

You are in California. Many snowbirds go to Algadones,Mexico . Just over the border from Yuma
You can park on the US side and walk across. We have never visited those dentists but thousands have done so and are pleased. Many of the dentists do exceptional work and have ultra modern facilities. Do some googling.

Nogales Northbound

We crossed at Mariposa this morning. When Northbound we always head to Nogales Centro and then take Colosio to the bus crossing. There used to be a problem with beams that stuck out over the roadway. Just the right height to damage an RV. They finally cut the beams. 20 minutes to cross. 15 had trucks backed up for a mile. Glad we took the bus route.

RE: Diesel shortages??

I am off to Hermosilo today and will check the one large Truck stop to see if they have diesel. Off topic but I have noticed the larger stations advertising that DEF is available. I also see a lot of new Mexican class 8 trucks with the little tank and a blue cap. That is the DEF Tank. Must be that ULSD is required.

RE: Diesel shortages??

Apparently the independent stations are having trouble getting all fuels. They are imported in most cases and the cost is just too high for them to compete. AMLO has not issued any new permits for importing fuel. But Pemex can import. Crazy. Mexico is subsidizing fuel that Pemex imports. I think the USA is upset as this does not comply with the mew NAFTA.

This could cause difficulties for some travelers> hard to believe that Mexico imports at least half of all diesel.

RE: Canadian Snowbirds heading home-Antigen Rapid Tests required

Why do I think this is 2021 all over again? Isn' this thread all about Trudeau's ridiculous mandates?

RE: Canadian Snowbirds heading home-Antigen Rapid Tests required

Wow. here it is in a paper issued a few days ago. So is Trudeau going to wander the streets and verify you are a traveler?
or 14 days following entry into Canada, you and any unvaccinated children under the age of 12 who travelled with you must:
maintain a list of the names and contact information of each person with whom you came into close contact and a list of locations visited
wear a well-constructed, well-fitting mask in public settings
keep a copy of the following and provide them on request to the Government of Canada or government of the province or territory where you are located, or to the local public health authority:
all COVID-19 pre-arrival test results
all on-arrival COVID-19 test results, including results from random testing and results for children under 12 and
proof of vaccine
monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19
if you start showing signs and symptoms, or receive a positive test result for COVID-19 before the expiry of the 14 day period, you must immediately:
report within 24 hours to the Public Health Agency of Canada by calling 1-833-641-0343 (the official will provide you with additional details and instructions)
isolate for an additional 10 days, even if your province or territory has a shorter isolation period
contact the appropriate public health authority
In addition, if:
the fully vaccinated parent, guardian, or tutor develops signs or symptoms, or receives a positive result, the parent, guardian, or tutor and the child must isolate for 10 days
you travelled with a person who develops signs and symptoms of COVID-19, or receives a positive result for any type of test before the expiry of the 14-day period, you and the child must quarantine for 14 days starting the day you or your child were most recently exposed to the other person

RE: Canadian Snowbirds heading home-Antigen Rapid Tests required

I understood that the next change to any protocols was April. Would sure be great if it was soon. One of our neighbors in Mexico spends a month or 2 in Kino. She is from Winnipeg and does not have a smart phone. She was very worried about how she is going to handle the test while overnighting in Phoenix. Hard to get the results before you leave. Too much planning and just more stress for nothing. We are leaving after Easter and hope that we will not have to worry about a useless test.

RE: Canadian Snowbirds heading home-Antigen Rapid Tests required

Forget all this discussion about Data. Canada is closing our tourist industry for no apparent reason. The rapid test is not very accurate. As I stated previously if the border needs a rapid test then returning to your home province from a known area of Covid transmission should also need a rapid test. Of course that is ridiculous. But so is the requirement for a test at the border. A big hassle for Snowbirds.

Silversand. I really think that the only reason this testing fiasco has not been killed is politics. Our leader( no caps intentional) wants to control everything. Did you have any trouble getting a test that would still be valid when you crossed?

RE: Canadian Snowbirds heading home-Antigen Rapid Tests required

No problem Canuck. It is an interesting discussion and it should continue. I saw something online yesterday about a meeting with tourism companies, business leaders and more Apparently April 1 is when Canada announces any changes. Tourism in Canada is only 1/3 of pre covid. The rapid test requirement serves no purpose but is killing tourism and hassling Canadians``

RE: Canadian Snowbirds heading home-Antigen Rapid Tests required

The test cannot be a self test. It has to be sent to a lab where they certify the results. Just more ridiculous regs. I supported all the mandates and restrictions when Covid was rampant and very few people were vaccinated. But not now. I wish I could expand in another post but it would be deleted.

That test also discourages cross border shoppers. Both ways. Lots of Canadians have a mail box service in the USA. They retrieve parcels. Now you have to add the cost of a test. Crazy. I cold give a reason for that test but it would be political. American tourists will have to have a test for the whole family. Not only a PIA it is costly.
