RE: no hot water..help please

Mixing can happen when the "mixer (middle) valve" in the normal photo is open. It can also happen when both valves are open on a faucet such as an outside shower or faucet.

RE: New Mexico travel restrictions

Quarantine doesn't mean you must stop for 2 weeks before continuing. Quarantine means you are responsible to keep your germs to yourself by staying away from others. If passing through, pass on. If returning home or coming for a visit, your first 2 weeks will be less than social.

RE: New Mexico 'Quarantine" Requirements

New Mexico order is to self isolate if you enter the state. Includes all forms of travel. No need to avoid the state, you will not be held for 2 weeks. But, the first two weeks that you are here, you are expected to stay away from others. Stopping for fuel while travelling through is not going to get you placed in custody and your vehicle impounded. And New Mexico orders do not extend beyond state lines. So, because NM expects you to self isolate while here, once you leave the state, we could care less.

RE: light film on cabinets

Could it be like the film that builds up on the inside of car windows as a result of the plastic off gassing.

RE: Class C vs Trailer for Cross country with family? Help

We had several road trips with our girls at age 10 and 12. Travel was only NM to WA to help and visit family. They never complained whether taking the full sized bronco or rented smaller class Cs. However, it was the motor home trips they remember enjoying the most because of the undistracted family time. Even over the couple airline trips.

RE: Inverter

+1 inverter was trying to power a/c. I don't know what model or inverter you have, but the generic 2500 inverter doesn't list pass through power as an option meaning it doesn't have an internal transfer switch to turn off the inverter part of the box when 120V is available. Being rated at 20 amps output, the inverter may be capable to run the a/c. But as you've learned, the battery cables seem undersized.

RE: Has anyone added an extra water tank to RV roof

There are several 500 lb rated hitch carriers listed on amazon. Much better solution imho.

RE: Chassis Battery Voltage Fluxuating while driving

That is a typical symptom of a voltage regulator overheating and tripping out. Most voltage regulators are built into the alternator. The parts store can test it for free if removed from the engine.

RE: Black Tank Roof Vent and Bathroom Roof Vent Too Close?

No harm in routing the vent horizontal across the roof as long as it is well secured during travel.

RE: Are all RV's noisy and rattle?

Some rattle more than others, but yes they all rattle. The RV of an owner more sensitive to the rattles, rattle less.

RE: Solar and VSR relays

Not a problem drawing current from both batteries during startup. The starter will only draw the amperage it needs from the path of least resistance which is typically the starter battery. Many rvs have a switch to close the vsr so the leisure battery can help starter battery if needed. There are different systems to perform the task of the vsr. They use a non-sensing isolation relay controlled by either a bidirectional isolator relay delay (bird) or an isolator relay delay (ird) that sense voltage from both or single direction, respectively.

RE: Help finding this DC Outlet

Try searching 'surface mount 12v outlet'. While none exactly like you have, there are many options available.

RE: Replacing Converter

On many converters, it is possible to only replace the guts of the converter with either a compatible part from a different manufacturer or by transplanting the guts from a direct replacement. If the new converter is completely different, let the demo begin.

RE: RV park or campground near Los Alamos, NM

There is a visitors center in the suburb of Whiterock that allows short term stays. It is run by the county and amounts to dry camping in a parking lot. Elk Ridge mobile home park has spots set up for RV's if the stay is a little longer. Elk Ridge will have hookup obviously. The next closest is in Pojoque about 15 miles away. I don't know the contact information, but the name of the town is rather unique. Finally, the forest service camp ground in the Jemez mountains opened last weekend. There is one right at the edge of town near Bandolier National Monument.

RE: OHV Camping and Riding

It is always a good idea to check the OHV rules for each state you wish to explore. Some require purchasing a permit. Some permits are reciprocal between states while others are not. Sometimes there aren't permit vendors open or near the destination.

RE: NM 6 I40 to Belen

6 is a small 2 lane road without shoulders. nmroads.com shows lane closures for bridge maintenance through dec 2020. Being familiar with Albuquerque, I would take i40 to i25 south, but avoid the evening rush hour. Other times of day traffic may be busy, but not stopped.

RE: Sudden Hot & Ground Rev per Southwire Receptalce Tester

Just a big guess that may be the circuit breaker tripped and the tester is seeing more voltage on the ground than the hot. Be sure to turn suspect breakers off before turning them back on.

RE: Predator 2000 Inverter Generator

The charge time depends more upon the size of the converter and the size of the batteries. A 1500W generator will provide all the power the converter needs. So recharge times will be equivalent to being plugged in at home. Here are my weekend warrior thoughts on battery life. Charts show that partial charging and higher state of discharge will reduce battery life. I find that if I go camping 2 weekends every month (48 days/year) and recharge the batteries every day, the charts suggest that the batteries should last 10 years if discharged to a 50% state of discharge every day - 5 years at 70% state of discharge. People on this board brag about batteries lasting 8 years. I'm good with that because I don't camp near that much.

RE: Correctly installing a 12v power meter after coach master

Timotb After looking at the PDF and re-reading the post. I believe that - yes, you can power the meter running a wire from LJ to the red location and a wire from KF to the black location on the meter, respectively. Be aware that as shown in the PDF, the meter will not be shown in the power consumption on the display. As you are wiring it to KF and LJ, the power consumption of the meter will be measured. So if you are trying to check the TV, you will actually be checking the consumption of the TV and the meter. As others have mentioned, the shunt shown in the pdf (black strip of a thing) must be installed between the negative on the battery and whatever you want to measure the power consumption of. Most will install between the main negative cable from the battery and the rest of the coach. Simply turning things on and off will show the consumption of each individual thing.
