Andersen WD hitch thoughts?

Thinking about going to an Andersen WD hitch instead of my Equalizer E2. The hitch head is heavy, have to store the bars, etc. I've seen some issues with Andersen causing damage to the A-frame on TTs; the set screws being an issue; among other things. My TT is about 6,000# loaded with estimated 750# hitch weight. For those that have the Andersen, what are you experiences? Is it easy to use? Effective sway control? Any concerns or problems?

RE: Do Some Travel Trailers Have Levelling Jacks?

If you know what you're looking at, and crawl under most travel trailers that were built in the last 10 years or so and are on a Lippert frame, you might have second thoughts before you jack it up to change a tire let alone jacking the entire thing up off the ground to level it. My thoughts as well! TT frames seem to be the thinnest possible to reduce weight and allow for more vehicles to be used as TV's. Leveling jacks would test frame strength and probably not turn out well! Same reason adding a lot of weight to the rear bumper scares me.

RE: Battery disconnect - switch or fuse?

OP here. Thanks for all the help! I've ordered a master cutoff switch and 20" 6 gauge battery cable. Plan to mount it on the outside of the battery box, under the box handle. I'll pull the 10A fuse and see if the slide works....did not consider that the slide might have its own fuse.

Battery disconnect - switch or fuse?

Looking to add a way to disconnect the battery on my 2019 Keystone Bullet 243BHS. There's a 6 gauge wire coming off the battery to a circuit breaker mounted on the frame, which leads to a second circuit breaker and then under the trailer enclosed by the coroplast. There is a second wire (12 gauge) from the positive side of the battery that has an inline 10A fuse and goes directly under the trailer. I pulled this fuse and can't find what it controls. Any ideas? The prewired rearview camera? The tongue jack is wired to the 2nd circuit breaker and has an inline 30A fuse. What's the best way to disconnect everything from the battery? Switch (any recommendations?) or inline fuse (40A with 6 gauge wire)?

RE: Drill motor for stabilizers

Impact drivers are loud. Be prepared to get dirty looks from your neighbors!

RE: Putty or butyl tape?

A couple of awesome write-ups JBarca! Thanks for that education. I plan to keep this TT for 10+ years so I'm going the butyl tape route. Looking for naphtha now. Is VM&P naphtha acceptable for this project? Looks like I can get it at Lowes, TSC, etc.

Putty or butyl tape?

Found a leak around my outside kitchen compartment door. Planning to remove the door, check for any damage and reinstall the door. Should I use putty tape or butyl tape around the door frame and TT side? Thinking the putty tape would compress and spread, allowing me to trim the part that oozes out. Butyl tape is stickier but wouldn’t squish like the putty tape. Can’t decide which is better?!

RE: WDH for Kodiak 160 Hybrid trailer

Your hitch weight seems low for a 2700# HTT; I'd expect it to be 350+ pounds. I had a Jayco X17C HTT and used an E2 hitch from Fastway - very pleased with it. Offers WD as well as some amount of sway control. An E4 is better but more $$$. Never have cared for add-on friction sway bars.

RE: Dish portable dish.

The Winegard TV Signal Finder app is very good to see if you have a clear view of the satellites. Takes a lot of the guess work out.

Bypassing gas strut on entry door

Just upgraded to a 2019 Keystone Bullet and the entry door has a gas strut at the bottom that holds the door open at a 90 angle. That's nice at times but I'm thinking I'm gonna miss the door being open to almost 180. Always like the view and ease of entry in my old TT that did not have the strut feature. Looks like a "c" clip could be popped off the end of the strut to allow full motion. Short of drilling holes to add a door holder, what other options are out there? This is what was on my old 2011 TT Camco 42386
