Bypassing gas strut on entry door

Just upgraded to a 2019 Keystone Bullet and the entry door has a gas strut at the bottom that holds the door open at a 90 angle. That's nice at times but I'm thinking I'm gonna miss the door being open to almost 180. Always like the view and ease of entry in my old TT that did not have the strut feature. Looks like a "c" clip could be popped off the end of the strut to allow full motion. Short of drilling holes to add a door holder, what other options are out there? This is what was on my old 2011 TT Camco 42386

RE: TT tires look askew!

OP here again. Thanks for all your input here. All turned out good with the TT and pulled quite nicely on the trip to its new home! Tires wear looked OK. Now to sell my hybrid TT!!!

Keystone Bullet 243BHS

I'm looking at a used 2019 Keystone Bullet 243BHS. Anyone on here have a similar unit? The owner told me the floor was replaced by Keystone and upon researching, that seems to be an issue with this model. Floor felt solid; did not feel any soft spots near the door etc. Also said the water heater was recalled and replaced. Let me know the good, bad & ugly about this model! Anything in particular I should look for? All appliance and TVs, etc are Furrion; I don't have any experience with that brand. Is the roof well built? Several years ago, I had a 2002 Keystone Cougar and it was a nice TT. Never had a problem other than regular maintenance.

RE: TT tires look askew!

OP here. Thanks for the quick replies! And for the photos posting tips. My McAfee anti-virus software didn't like that website! I plan on going back to take a more serious look at this TT this weekend and will ask the owner if he could pull it forward a few feet to see if it straightens the tires out. This trailer has a very wide stance (gap between tires) and is advertised as easier to tow, etc. Was concerned about possible bent/warped axle or spindle.

TT tires look askew!

I'm looking at a 2019 Keystone Bullet 243BHS TT and the tires look askew. Not sure if this trailer has torsion axles? I took a couple pics but not sure you can see the issue. The tires on the curb side are not at the same angle/on the same plane/one tire leans more than the other/not sure how to describe! What could this be? It was parked in a somewhat tight spot, so not sure if they are just torqued and would straighten out? Or if it's something more severe. I didn't get a good look at the other side but the axles underneath the trailer looked OK....camber looked about right, etc. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. Should I keep this TT on my list of possibles or just pass on it and keep looking? Not sure why the photos won't load correctly? Right click and open in new tab works....

Eternabond tape on fiberglass sides

My 2011 Jayco X17C has a leak. It’s a HTT and on the front bed the there’s a seam where the fiberglass siding meets the metal trim, water is seeping in. It’s not much but enough that it’s wicking up and has caused some damage. I’m thinking about putting 2” Eternabond tape along this seam to seal it from leaking. Has anyone used Eternabond tape on the sides of their TT? Would there be any drawbacks doing this? Do you think it would look OK? I’m pretty particular about how my trailer looks but I cannot have it leaking!!

RE: Rear Bumper Storage - how bad is it?

Gotta worry about the bounce too. I had a reinforced bumper on a previous TT with a cargo carrier/bike rack. Everything bounced and bounced and bounced....almost lost the bikes on the interstate as the expansion joints in the road made the bounce worse. Finally quit using it out of safety concerns.

RE: Norcold "C" code

Shore power is good. When connected to truck is good. Only problem is when on TT battery.

RE: Norcold "C" code

That's what I'm hoping! It's a new battery (this season) but it's a NeverStart from WalMart. I knew better and did it anyway!! :D

Norcold "C" code

My 2011 Norcold fridge gave me a "C" code last weekend. I plug in to AC at home, let the fridge get to temp and then run on propane while traveling. Fridge fired up on propane as expected. When I arrived at the campground, noticed the "C" code. Found that indicates low voltage. Plugged into AC at the campground and fridge worked fine. When leaving, unplugged from AC and "C" code returned. Plugged brake harness into truck and fridge fired up and "C" code was gone. So, is this a battery problem or convertor problem? My Shumaker charger says the battery is at 12.4 volts.

RE: TV tire life

Went thru the same quandary with my original Goodyear tires on a 2014 Titan. Right at 30,000 miles on them but the date code was late 2013. Figured that if the new set lasts 6-7 years, why not go ahead and replace? Found some Bridgestone Duelers on sales at Discount Tire and have not looked back. The ride is smoother and quieter and now no worries. It's not like I'm going to wear this set out either!! At 11-12 MPG around town, 9-10 towing and gas at $3.00 a gallon; I'm not going too far anytime soon!

Is Facebook killing this site?

There doesn't seem to be as much activity on this site lately....especially since the season has started. Are Facebook Groups killing this site? I feel that I get better info from here than on Facebook. The groups I am a member of there are full of smart comments, rude people and the oh my the repetition! 147 answers with most of them saying the same thing!!! How about y'all? Do you visit here as often or look for answers from other sites?

Replacing trim/screw cover around door & bunk ends

The vinyl trim that covers the screws around the door and bunk ends on my HTT is dirty, moldy and drying out. I'm looking to replace but not sure what size or how to measure. This is a link of what I think I need...but not sure if it's 1/2", 3/4", 7/8" or 1" Any tips on how to measure? Is is better to get some that is a little too wide? Vinyl 7/8" Marine trim
