RE: Anybody launching a boat with a Class A?

Watch "RV goes into lake" on YouTube. Interesting stuff at .50 mark.

RE: Selling Fifth Wheel Hitches - How To

I think hitchtrader.com is still viable.

RE: Spring suspension issues

You need to know the trailer weight to determine the spring requirements. Using rough numbers, let's say your max weight is 13,000lbs, and you subtract the average pin weight of 20%, that leaves 10,400lbs on two axles, so each axle should be rated no less than 5,200lbs, and 3,000lb springs would do the job. I suggest you get actual weights, then discuss your requirements with a truck spring shop or trailer repair business. Also, your idea about moving the spring perches is a good idea, IMHO.

RE: New tires for 5'r

Endurance get good reviews but you might not find them readily available. Sailuns were the best (opinion) until they were outsourced to Vietnam in 2020/21, and some are on the recall. Some folks praise Hercules and Carlisles. XPS Ribs are expensive, where the others are less.

RE: Towing capacity

You're probably getting close to max on the truck, but you need to know the actual hitch weight before you can be sure.

RE: Tank treatment that can restore sensor accuracy?

Nothing works. Let me say again, NOTHING WORKS! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sailun Recall

Found this at NHTSA site, looks like Sailun has recognized its problem: NHTSA Recall No. 21T018 "Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. (Sailun) is recalling certain Sailun, RoadX, Blacklion, Blackhawk, and Ironhead brand tires, sizes ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 with DOT codes 2020 through 4120. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation. Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Sailun will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December 2021. Owners may contact Sailun customer service at 1-844-281-9696."

RE: More garbage that'll get us ALL banned from National Forests

One bad guy should not ruin it for everyone. And, the people in charge should have been on top of it from the get go.

RE: Tire recommendations for pick up truck for towing

I've been disappointed every time I strayed from Michelin.

RE: Trailer Springs in Mexicali, Mexico??

I have no idea. Perhaps try to contact someone from one of the RV caravan groups for info?

RE: Replacement for broken cover

If it's not a toe stubber or trip hazard, I'd remove it.

RE: Class A quality

I'm of the opinion that most, if not all, RVs are poorly designed and poorly built. I've had issues, some serious, with everything from a pop-up, Class As and Cs, and now the FW. OTOH, if they were built to better standards, I couldn't afford them.

RE: Tow Dolly Woe

I would think/hope any trailer shop that sells boat trailers would be able to service a tow dolly.

RE: Changing a tire yourself

If I was desperate to get off the roadside I could change a tire if necessary. OTOH, I'd wait for road service if the turnaround time was reasonable. The two times I've used my GEICO road service was for the tow vehicle and the longest wait was two hours.

RE: I need help removing my broken water heater drain plug

Go to the hardware store and buy a "sprinkler riser removal tool." I have removed several with one of these, works perfect. https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-2-in-and-3-4-in-Plastic-Nipple-Extractor-26076/100203404 Excellent suggestion! If that doesn't work, melting it out might work, and I wouldn't worry about any getting inside.

Allow me to be a wisenhimer(sp) and opine that wood blocks can be helpful.

RE: Captain chair/sofa upholstery

I don't know how yours are made, but they typically disassemble to get thru the door.

RE: Tires again

I'm included in the Sailun crowd, but I'm not liking what I've heard here and other sites about the recent made in Vietnam Sailuns.

RE: 50A Power Cord Reel

I don't have one, but it's on my someday list, maybe.
