RE: Getting Started - Longer Distance Camping

On the stocking of supplies and clothing. Stock food and clothing as you would for that period of time if you were at home. Since you are going to Colorado be sure to include some cool weather clothes, even in summer. Plan to use one day per week for grocery shopping, laundry and housekeeping.

RE: Follow-up to my frozen refrigerator....

Back in the day when absorption refrigerators were common in homes, that was a standard fix when they got out of kilter.

RE: Puma trailers. Any good?

I have a 2018 25RLS and quality is on par with others. If buying new expect, to have a variety of problems crop up regardless of make or model.

RE: Hwy TX 6

Unless you are actually wanting to go Galveston and Arizona is your destination or origin I would avoid Houston with a more northerly route like US290 and TX 105. Personally I do not consider Houston a problem using I10 straight thru on weekends.

RE: Fiber glassing question

For a grab bar, your plan is next best compared to thru bolting. I would not trust any adhesive in that application. Make sure the deck is squeaky clean before doing the glass work.

RE: Dometic refrigerator frost and ice

Quite normal. Unlike home refers, RV units do not have a defrost cycle.

RE: Fredericksburg Tx

I have stayed a Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park Campground several times. Part of the municipal park complex with access to trails, pool and golf course. Nice and well maintained.

RE: Turlock California to Orlando FL in 12/21

Ditto of Paw Paw. If you are wanting to include the Keys; the time to make reservations there is now.

RE: How difficult to install new brake drums

It is unlikely you would need new drums unless they have gotten scored by bad brake shoes. The shoes however, would need to be changed if they are worn. The easy way is to replace the backing plate and shoes as an assembly; especially if you want to upgrade to self adjusting.

RE: Suburban Water Heater gas will not shut off

DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH A LP GAS LEAK. There are only two solutions to this. Either replace the valve or disconnect and plug the gas line.

RE: Routes around Houston TX

Best route time wise is strait thru on the weekend. The Galveston route is about the same mileage wise but you spend time with the ferry crossing. The TX105 route is substantially longer.

RE: Louisiana State Parks

Lake Charles area was hard hit by two storms so I would not expect parks there to open very soon. Grand Isle and New Orleans area - I would check with the individual park nearer the time of your trip. As for the rest of the state there are no problems.

RE: Gone through 5 water pumps in 2015 cedar creek

Sounds like an installation problem. It should have flexible lines both in and out and the pump mounted on a solid surface. Something about your installation is putting your pump in a bind.

RE: Albuquerque to Tallahassee

I would avoid the I-10 stretch between I-49 and Baton Rouge. Major construction on the Lafayette end and east bound is a problem at Baton Rouge except on weekend early mornings.

RE: Flojet Water Pump hammering

How far are you opening the faucet? Does it do it with a faucet wide open? Sounds like the pump flow capacity is exceeding the rate of discharge from the faucet. That pump has a 4.5 GPM capacity and will definately short cycle when using the shower. Adding an accumulator will solve that problem.

RE: Albuquerque to Tallahassee

In Texas if after Wichita Falls you pick up US82 to Sherman then US69 down to I-20 you can avoid the Fort Worth Dallas metro area. These are both good roads.

RE: Shower wall sealant not sticking

Clean the area well where the sealant is to be applied then wipe with vinegar.

RE: Ford F150 battery drain when towing Travel Trailer

What is the condition of the battery on the TT. If it is deeply discharged or shorted it will draw down any other battery (ie the truck battery) connected to it.

RE: Squeaky Coleman Mach AC

The bearings are failing. Bet that W. W. Grainger or another local place that sells motors can beat that price. Just give them the specs off the motor label.

RE: AV gas for the generator

Ditto. Running any engine on a higher octane fuel than what the manufacturer recommends is a waste of money.
