RE: Louisiana State Parks

Lake Charles area was hard hit by two storms so I would not expect parks there to open very soon. Grand Isle and New Orleans area - I would check with the individual park nearer the time of your trip. As for the rest of the state there are no problems.

RE: Gone through 5 water pumps in 2015 cedar creek

Sounds like an installation problem. It should have flexible lines both in and out and the pump mounted on a solid surface. Something about your installation is putting your pump in a bind.

RE: Albuquerque to Tallahassee

I would avoid the I-10 stretch between I-49 and Baton Rouge. Major construction on the Lafayette end and east bound is a problem at Baton Rouge except on weekend early mornings.

RE: Flojet Water Pump hammering

How far are you opening the faucet? Does it do it with a faucet wide open? Sounds like the pump flow capacity is exceeding the rate of discharge from the faucet. That pump has a 4.5 GPM capacity and will definately short cycle when using the shower. Adding an accumulator will solve that problem.

RE: Albuquerque to Tallahassee

In Texas if after Wichita Falls you pick up US82 to Sherman then US69 down to I-20 you can avoid the Fort Worth Dallas metro area. These are both good roads.

RE: Shower wall sealant not sticking

Clean the area well where the sealant is to be applied then wipe with vinegar.

RE: Ford F150 battery drain when towing Travel Trailer

What is the condition of the battery on the TT. If it is deeply discharged or shorted it will draw down any other battery (ie the truck battery) connected to it.

RE: Squeaky Coleman Mach AC

The bearings are failing. Bet that W. W. Grainger or another local place that sells motors can beat that price. Just give them the specs off the motor label.

RE: AV gas for the generator

Ditto. Running any engine on a higher octane fuel than what the manufacturer recommends is a waste of money.

RE: My TT was wrecked by a hail storm.

Once had lightning hit a tree about 75 feet away. Not in the mountains either. Quite a bang and it blew a line of bark off the tree. Thankfully it was a green healthy tree so it catch fire.

RE: North Toledo Bend & South Toledo Bend State Parks Louisiana

I was at South Toledo about a month ago and they were doing a bunch of clearing which has disturbed some of trail areas.

RE: FORD F-150 AXLE RATIO CHOICE

I do not know what the difference is between Ford's standard and max tow package; but my choice would be max tow with 3:55, especially with that engine.

RE: Motor Home/Trailer Life Magazines Cease Publication

Just received the new "magazine". It is more an advertising flyer than anything else.

RE: 12 volt Refrigerators

Bob's reply is correct. For the person that dry camps the absorption system is still the best route as power consumption is minimal. Even with lower amp draw of the "danfoss" system; one needs a substantial battery system. IF I were to go the electric only route, I would choose the Norcold as they have been in use in the marine environment for decades and have a good record.

RE: 12 volt frige

Not sure what the OP has since no model is given. 12vdc compressor type refers have been used in marine applications fro years. They normally run on 120 VAC when available then switch to 12 VDC when AC is not available. When in DC mode the current draw is generally in the 5 to 8 amp range.

RE: Carrier AIR V Blower wheel

Do you have a HVAC or appliance parts and supply house in your area? If so take the old wheel with you and see if they have a match.

RE: Mystery leak.

Two possibilities. If you have a single connection for both the city water and filling the fresh water tank; a valve in in that system may not be seating. It is also possible that the check valve in the water pump is not seating and allowing back flow thru the pump.

RE: Truck flooded

Don't accept any determination other than totaled. Find the Kelly Blue Book value and use that to determine if they place the proper value on it.

RE: Floor heights

There are a couple of companies that make various lifts that can be fitted on RVs including TTs and 5th wheels. They are fairly expensive but still much less than a new RV.
