RE: Culling the herd....

The many years we lived in Livingston and would take a drive through the Park we saw some really STUPID decisions.

RE: Parks around Lincoln CA.

https://www.rvonthego.com/california/lake-minden-rv-resort/ Not likely any 50 amp but there is a lot of shade so you can make it on 30 amp. Close off any areas you are not in. Cover windows etc. There are few decent parks in the area. The one posted is not as pretty as the picture but the folks are nice and the spots are decent enough. If Kalifornia was not so strict one could probably make a fortune building a nice resort near Sacramento. Always has amazed me an area as large as Sac and so few decent parks. There may be one in "downtown" that sits on the river and then one to the south off of I think hwy99, a campground on a "lake"... Thanks

RE: Rear view camera

Backup camera We saw the Type S that Costco sells. I think it is $99.00 in store. Solar powered from the license plate holder. Wireless to the receiver in cab. Really curious what any users here may say.

Parks around Lincoln CA.

There is not a great choice so close to sacramento. Not sure if we will be towing as that would add a few extra days to our trip. 300 miles pulling is my max vs driving. Three days minimum vs two days. Looks like there is Camp Far West in Wheatland and Gold Country in Auburn. 50 amp would be a necessity there in September. So that leaves out the Indian Casino... Anyone with experiences at anything there? Will be visiting a group of friends in Lincoln so close is a must... Thank you for any input...

RE: Fighting zoning ordinances that hurt RV owners

I guess I'm the "odd man out", but we purposely chose a neighborhood with an HOA that prohibits RV, MH, boat, trailer etc. parking visible from the street, along with comercial vehicles. The HOA has a huge lot gated, locked, and barbed wire fencing for RV, boat, MH trailer storage with a storage cost/year of $35. No reason to not use the RV lot and neighborhood is lots nicer than some around and house values reflect that. When looking to buy why some people don't bother to read the CC&R's and county parking regulations and then complain is strange. I would probably have no issues at all with a fenced lot that would allow rvs, boats, etc. And for $35 a year... We went from $79 a month to now paying $45 a month. Glad we were able to find a less expensive spot. But now it is about 15 miles away.

RE: Fighting zoning ordinances that hurt RV owners

There is a new GIECO commercial spoofing HOA's . From seeing problems thru the years it's spot on which makes it hilarious to me. :B A VERY hilarious commercial... When we bought, we were looking at property with RV parking allowed. We wanted to have our 5th wheel next to us AND save the storage fees. Then came the fine print. We had not had a copy of the hoa's when we purchased. RV had to be behind a 6 foot fence and be no more than 4 feet above that fence.

RE: Rescue California to Coeur d'Alene Idaho

If you go the way ramyankee suggest there is a great little park in Standish right where A-3 comes back into 395. Bunch of full timers in it but keeps the center section (drive through) open for travelers. We stopped in planned for an overnight and spent a second. DW found a slot at the casino she fell in love with. Food there was decent too. Making reservations was like this. "Yeah, I got room. What's you name? Please call if something comes up and you can't make it." Days End RV Park http://www.daysendrv.com/ That is a VERY nice looking little park.

RE: Rescue California to Coeur d'Alene Idaho

All the times we would go to Coeur d' Alene from Plumas County (before we moved there) we ended up going up through 395 to the A-3 turnoff, back onto 395 to Alturas, 199 to 39/139 to Klamath Falls then to 97 through Bend to Biggs Junction OR, I-84 to I-82 to Tri-cities back onto 395, to I-90, to CDA. We had special gas stops for easy in and out. Stayed generally at the Likely Place RV Park, in Bend (once at the KOA in Culver OR) and Boardman Marina RV Park. Longest stint is about 5 hours. Again, this was done for short hops to RV Parks located the right distance apart and gas stops that were easy.

Question on 450's/4500's

Probably will never buy but love to graze. I notice that there are never any 4x4's. Just curious.

RE: Pick up tool Box extra fuel tank

Do some states not allow gasoline tanks in trucks? Why would diesel be different than gas?

RE: Cooke City to Livingston, MT

Taking 212 to 89 on Google Maps shows "tolls" going that way. Does anyone know where the toll is. My paper maps do not show any toll on that route. Thank you. Betsy. Really will wait for those that have recently done that route. Don't know what they mean by toll. What would you be towing? Because the only way I would tow that route is from Livingston to Cooke City, not the reverse. The road from Red Lodge to Cooke is scenic, an understatement, but I WOULD NOT recommend towing. Lived in Livingston from 70 to 82 and don't remember tolls but you do need to go through the Park gates for entrance...

Need a hand finding a part name for my Allison tranny

I thought it was called a shift limiter switch. The device that works with the shift lever that illuminates the P R N D D1 D2 D3. Mine is going bad AGAIN. Thus the must be unit #4 that I have replaced with only 136000 miles. Sure would appreciate any info. My brain has failed me. Wow, big surprise...

RE: Bucket List Item on Ca-58

There is also a loop in Northern California, the Williams loop. It is on Hiway 70 about 6 miles east of Quincy. That is some pretty impressive engineering.
