RE: City water hookup

With a used RV you have to consider that the previous owner made some modifications to things that he did not find ideal. Perhaps he relocated the water inlet so that the hose came in under the basement, rather than a hook-up where the door is kept open a little. The water inlet will be in the same wet compartment as everything else but it may be facing down or located off to the side, etc. Sometimes it just takes some searching around. Since MoutainHigh ceased production in 2001 or so, about the only place you may find manuals is on eBay or through websites like this. Keep in mind that most all of your systems are NOT unique to MounatinHigh and most of the components are available from the specific manufacturers.

RE: City water hookup

There are several different models of Residency coaches but one picture I saw online shows what appears to be a water hook-up on the driver's side, just aft of the slide. Look in that basement compartment and see if you can fine a female hose connection.

RE: fuel trouble

As your fuel runs low in your tank, your in-tank fuel pump will get warmer. I suspect that your in-tank fuel pump is on the verge of failing. This can easily be checked by using a pressure gauge to check fuel pressure at your fuel rail.

RE: Motor Home or Toy Hauler

I talked to my Daughter today and informed her of a Forest River Wildwood with 2 bed rs,bath and half. Right at 40 ft. 6ft9in inside. She loved the model. Money is no problem as they made a fortune in the stock market and are selling there home in NY for nearly 2 million. I have 5 acres that they can park there RV or Grand S has 4+ acres that they can use.My SIL said a Dealer told him a 3/4 P/Up would pull a Toy Hauler with 2 BR etc , no problem. I told him no way, not safely If they buy new, just have the dealer deliver it to your parking site. Then when they are finished with it, they can have the new owner pick it up. No truck needed.

RE: Microwave is dead?

Since the microwave is a kitchen appliance is there any chance that the outlet is a GFCI that has tripped? Mine was plugged in inside an upper cabinet.

RE: Side mounted cameras

I used the Voyager system from RV cams and it was actually an easy installation that I did in about 2 hours. I changed my monitor at the same time. The whole system with a tilting rear camera was about $800 including the adapters to use my existing wiring from the rear camera.

RE: Side mounted cameras

I installed mine on a Workhorse W chassis so I had all of the space I needed to run the wires under the hood to each side and tie in to the monitor and turn signal wires. They came on with the turn signals and off when they signal cancelled. I mounted them as far forward as I could and about 5' above the ground.

RE: Blown engine

Just make sure that you find out what caused the problem. A bad MAF has been known to make the engine run lean and burn a piston. There could also be an issue with the ECM or O2 sensors. Basically you want to make sure that if you get a new long block that you do not use any bad components from your old engine when you bolt on all of the accessories.

RE: Charging 4 batteries with external charger.

I assume that you have your batteries hooked up to provide 12 volts to your coach. If you hook up the charger at the same point where the 12 volt output is taken from, there should be no problem at all.

RE: How long can you go on a 50 amp extension cord?

Voltage at an outlet can only be accurate if you are reading it while it is under the full load that you plan to use.

RE: How long can you go on a 50 amp extension cord?

Also you need to take in to consideration the wiring going to the 50A plug that you will be connecting to. If it is a long run from the source to the 50A pedestal you may already be marginal as far as voltage drop goes. Not all 50A plugs are wired to provide 100 amps of power.

RE: Natchez Trace

You do have to watch for turkeys and deer but other than that it is an easy drive. Lots of neat places to stop along the trace.

RE: FORD 460 Overheating Mystery

Do you have access to a ScanGauge, or similar type gauge to hook up to your OBDII connection to get an accurate temperature of the coolant? Do you have one of those inexpensive laser temperature guns to check around your coolant flow path to see where the temperature is being generated. In other words what is the temp of the coolant in to the radiator and the temp out of the radiator. I believe that your transmission fluid also runs through your engine radiator. Is there any chance that your transmission is running hot, for whatever reason, and this is affecting the engine coolant temp?

RE: windshield gasket for 1999 Holiday Rambler

Check to see if it is just a loose dash which is making the windshield appear loose. The front cap should be fiberglass and maybe the steel supports have come loose or there are broken welds.

RE: Anyone tried Bluetooth Backup Cameras?

I changed my cameras to the Voyager monitor and cameras using my old cables. Great picture. I added a wireless bluetooth Garmin camera on the side of the coach for alignment with fuel pumps. The picture from the bluetooth camera is sufficient but is not near the quality of the wired cameras. It also sometimes will get interference from fluorescent lights, etc. I should add that a wireless camera is not really wireless since it requires power to the camera and a means to turn it on and off.

RE: smoking diesel exhaust

Usually an indication that your engine is running rich, or using more fuel than it can burn efficiently. This could be from worn out injectors that have an enlarged hole or other things that are putting more fuel in to the cylinders than the engine needs.

RE: Cant find a toilet seat and cover for Dometic 8700

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. The seat is a standard elongated seat available for a residential toilet.

RE: Looking for Transmission cooler radiator 03 Diplomat

None of the RV manufacturers made their own oil coolers. They all use standard sizes that are available. I'll bet that any radiator shop could find a replacement based on the size and the number of rows of cooling lines.
