AZ Snowbird Alert

From the Sunday Nov 30 RV Travel Newsletter... https://i.imgur.com/xJP903Fl.jpg Authorities are looking for a needle-in-a-haystack of snowbirds in Arizona New Mexico authorities suspect that Leonard Francis Kieren (60) fatally shot a woman at the San Ildefonso Pueblo on November 21. The Pueblo is 20 miles north of Santa Fe. After the shooting Kieren is said to have called 9-1-1 telling dispatchers he’d killed his girlfriend because she’d cheated on him. Cell phone pings later showed his cellphone in Arizona – and he has an address in Buckeye. He’s driving a white, 2004 Dodge dually, and may be towing a fifth wheel – unfortunately, no description on the 5er. The truck was bearing an Arizona plate, CFT9569. Check out the wanted poster for more detail.

RE: Bit of a different subject

we have and have had 'Mother-In-Law-Tongue' plants forever. either we've been very lucky or they don't need a lot of TLC. https://i.imgur.com/8rGMEAPl.jpg

RE: Happy Thanksgiving All

Couldn’t find any small turkeys but chicken will be fine. Hard to stuff a chicken but it’ll stuff me! Small turkeys are tough to find - we bought a large one and will just be creative with leftovers. we bought a cooked 1/2 turkey breast from the deli section of our local supermarket. 1/2 tonight, the other half on sunday. perfect for us. muy bueno!

RE: How important is tire size to your selection?

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is tire cost. There is a significant cost difference between 19.5"s and 22"s when the time comes (every 5 years). Yes, the 22"s carry more weight and typically will ride a bit better, but if the rig's GVWR can accommodate 19.5"s, I don't see a huge downside. I can also change a 19.5" flat on my own (although I certainly won't "enjoy" it); not sure I could do the same with 22"s. more like 7-yrs for us. we estimate the cost of a new set of 6-tires adjusted for inflation in 7-years and the divide that amount by 84 and set aside the result in dollars out of our monthly budget. if we want $5000 for new tires we would set aside $60 each month. painless.

RE: How important is tire size to your selection?

It was between the Coachmen Mirada and Entegra Vision XL. The Vision XL is the 22.5. the tire size would not even enter imto our thought process. far more important would be floor plan, front and rear axle empty and max weight limits, tow capacity, options, etc.

RE: I Hope This Doesn't Get Taken Down Right Away

friday afternoon 8th grade math class...Mr. Kakavas trying his best to ram binary numbers into our skulls full of mush. news came over the PA system. that was the end of that day as that was all we would hear until dismissal. walked home with my buddy Bruce and a couple of 13-yr olds speculating on what this meant. my sis and i spent the weekend playing monopoly on the floor in front of the constantly on TV. we saw the Oswald shooting and the Monday funeral (either no school or mom and dad let us stay home). that's how I remember it.

RE: Considering an LLC, looking for experiences

consider moving your domicile to South Dakota. EZ to establish residency, no state income tax, low fees.

RE: Garmin GPS

I have the Garmin 770RV. It has some nice features but I don't trust it to take me on the best route so I also use my I phone with Waze. none of us should implicitly trust any GPS. always review the route before departure.

RE: Garmin GPS

Don’t waste your money, I have one and it sometimes sends me down winding roads with tree branches overhanging the roadway at window level or even down a dead end road. Garmen, never again. do you have it set for FASTEST route or SHORTEST route? FASTEST is best in order to avoid your experience.

RE: My windshield nightmare.

won’t do you much good now but in the future for small, repairable dings & nicks either call your insurance agent or, as i do, just call Safelight. they’ll take all your info on the phone even filing the glass claim. and in most cases cost is covered by your comprehensive coverage. if the windshield needs to be replaced then absolutely call your agent. we’ve had three windshields replaced on two previous motorho es and several dings repaired by Safelight on our current MH. SafelightWhen the windshield broke in the first place I called Safelite. I was told my local shop did not do class A motorhomes. I called today to get a quote and was told they will now do class A RV's. odd. a ding in a windshield is a ding in a windshield. maybe you spoke with an ill-informed agent. best of luck to you. What I should have said is they would not replace a windshield at the time. I did not ask about chip repair since that is not what I needed. ahh. ok, that i can understand.

RE: Winnabego Vista

Depending on the year, hp, torque, and overall performance should be basically the same as all the other F-53 chassis units from them and the other manufacturers. If you are looking at new, it "could" be based on either of two engines, the old 6.8 V-10, or the new 7.3 V-8. But either way, it should not be appreciably different than other units from the same model year. you are. both are located with the first link. i checked the link after i posted and it was working. it isn't now. :h i think this is the data you're seeking: Highlights Fuel Capacity 40 gallon, 55 gallon, 80 gallon Drive Type 4x2 Available Engines 7.3L V8 Premium Engine/ 7.3L V8 Economy Engine Horsepower 350 hp @ 3,900 rpm/ 300hp @ 3,750 rpm (Economy) Torque 468 ft-lbs @ 3,900 rpm/ 425ft-lbs @ 3,250 rpm (Economy) Transmission TorqShift® 6-speed automatic with overdrive and tow/haul mode Wheelbase 138", 158", 168", 176", 178", 190", 208", 228", 242", 252" Maximum Payload 18,720 lbs (F-53) Wheels Available 16" Painted White Steel, 19.5" Steel, 19.5" White Steel Wheel, 22.5" Aluminum Warranty Bumper to Bumper 3 years / 36,000 miles Powertrain: 5 years / 60,000 miles Safety Restraint System: 5 years / 60,000 miles Corrosion (Perforation only): 5 years / Unlimited miles
