RE: Reliability of new 2015 6.7 powerstroke or Cummins Diesel

i have a 99 Dodge CTD 3500 dually with about 277K miles. I try to maintain it as best I can. I would drive it anywhere. In fact, in Aug. we plan on a 2000 mile trip up to MI to see the kid, grandkids and great grandkids. Been to Alaska 2 times in it, would go again tomorrow if 'she' would let me.

RE: lost my co pilot

I am so sorry for you. I cannot imagine what I would do. But, we men are lucky, we die first. My wife would have our son and daughter to take care of her.

5th wheel hitch

ok - I currently do not have a 5th wheel. we sold the last one several years ago and later I sold the reese 15k pro series hitch and rails. The 5th wheel was a Wildcat, do not remember the length, but probably in the mid 20 ft range. Had a rear kitchen which the wife really liked. we are thinking of returning to a 5th wheel. small one - mid 20 ft range. about same size as the one we had before. there is only the 2 of us, so we do not need a bigger one. question is - I have been looking at the same Reese 15K pro series hitch. But I have also saw a similar Curtis series hitch. The difference is about $100 less for the Curtis. Any comments?

RE: Leveling blocks

i agree with the lego blocks. you spend thousands of bucks on an RV. spend a few more and do it right. looks better also.

RE: Traveling to Myrtle beach

Well there is Fancy Gap leading down 77 toward NC ************************************************************* coming down Fancy Gap is very steep. Once down there is nothing but small hills, Once past Charlotte basically flat. If you have 'jake or exhaust' brakes then no problem with Fancy Gap. Just get in the right lane and gear down. I would not suggest coming down US52. Very steep and curve. Single lane most of the way down. I might add that US52 down hill has a 8 ton limit. This is to keep big rig trucks coming down to avoid the weight scales when you come down I77 and cross into NC.

RE: Pop up camper vs hard sided camper

most pop-up type TC now have auto pop up roofs. hit a button and up or down the roof goes. even on my prior Outfitter it took only 17 turns of the crank handle to raise/lower the roof. not a big deal. only problem with Hallmark is the price The Cuchara model cost over 40K. currently we do not own any type RV. but if we do get another, it will be a pop up TC.

RE: Dawson city

We also stayed at Goldrush CG. Right in town, so easy to get around. Right near Diamond Tooth Gerties. Sadly we did not stay there long enuff. Do not remember much about the place, cost etc.

RE: Dawson City > Chicken > Tok AK

on our first trip we traveled west to east. from Chicken over the TOW to Dawson city. the wx was great. plan on at least two days there. great things to do and see in Dawson city. Diamond Tooth Gerties is a definite place to visit. nice floor show, not long, but good. have pic of me with the girls. hope you have a great time.

RE: What!

I have driven by that RV center many times. It is right next to the Interstate . I have no problem with the size of that flag. The camping world near Greensboro also has a huge flag also.

RE: Honda 2000 compatibilty

is your truck an extended cab or 4 door? we used to carry our Honda 2000 in the back seat. or we would set it on the floor of the TC. worked for us, never had a problem.

RE: Denali Hwy vs Fairbanks?

I would be sure to go to Fairbanks, much to do there. Most caravans will spend more time there than any other place. And the trip from Fairbanks down to Denali and Anchorage is nice with lots to do and see.

RE: Dawson City > Chicken > Tok AK

we have been on the TOW highway two times with no problems. however, I have heard that if it is raining or recent rain then stay off. The Canada side is a better road than the US side. On our last trip, 2016, the few miles south of Chicken was terrible. Lots of potholes.

RE: Linville Falls, NC to Fancy Gap, VA

well, good luck. again my choice would be the parkway. there are many RV using it so, I would not expect a problem. if you do choose it, just after you cross over I77 it should be the next exit off the parkway. less then 1 mile. just wondering, why Fancy Gap? unless you plan on US52 north or south there is not much there.
