RE: Getting ready for winter

Should be right behind the panel where your fresh water hookups are. Usually has a small screen/filter that must be removed during winter else it will freeze and crack

RE: RV sale pending, but we found evidence of mice...

Thoroughly check all electrical functions of the rig before purchasing it to insure the mice have not eaten thru any electrical wiring. This is especially important if the rig sat unused for a period of time.

RE: Handling freezing temperatures

Assuming your rig is fully enclosed since it is a van? Would therefore assume your heater will keep all pipes internal to the van from freezing? Disconnect water supply before going to bed and you should be good to go? If the water supply is a "short run" you could also use a heat tape on the water line and be okay depending on how cold it gets. Could also easily wrap the line/heat tape with some type of foam pipe wrap.

RE: Ford 6L diesel in the news again

My son's truck was a total loss when the fuel pump failed and sent metal shards through his engine. Ford knew of this issue but did nothing about it. Ford SHOULD have replaced the fuel pumps on these trucks. The next model year they changed out the fuel pump to a different type... I will never own a Ford...

RE: What 50 amp surge protector do you recommend, and why?

Sandy and Shirley: do you have a water pressure check valve? If not this is another item you may want to invest in.

RE: Fuelly mileage of the big three diesels

It ain't about the miles per gallon. It is about what you are towing and what you need to safety tow it with.

RE: Roof spots

Is your rig parked outside without a cover? Is it near any trees?

RE: New to me trailer:1993 Fleetwood Wilderness:Roofing Question

Hard to tell from that pic but the roof looks like it needs a ton of tlc Assuming you have checked the interior thoroughly for signs of water damage Was this rig was stored under a cover/indoors? Looks like the caulking is in tough shape I would be shocked to learn that you had no water damage Good luck!

RE: Looking for opinions on Open Range Quality

I am of the opinion that no matter which rig you purchase you will be working bugs out for a period of time initially. Don't by a rig if you are not a handy man :)

RE: Fresh Water Tank

did you have a water pressure regulator on the hose that you were filling your fresh water tank with? If not do you believe the water pressure was 20-30 lbs above 40 lbs?

RE: First Fifth Wheeler

We have been towing a toy hauler at 13' 6" around the SW United States for about 7 years. Have never encountered a bridge/overpass that was lower than this.

RE: Teaching Your Spouse How to Pull a Trailer

Find a large gravel lot, get some cones, train away, never yell, if things get tense take a break, make it a fun experience

RE: Leak under shower

Good luck with your project. I am guessing this is the tip of the iceberg given your rig is 43 years old. You will need to be an expert handyman! If you are it should be fun, if not, not so much.
