RE: Passport America Caravans

So sorry your being treated this way. I would have copied your post and listed it on every single rv web site, You Tube or anywhere you can to let others know of his failure to follow his own rules. We are talking now of maybe finding a caravan group for next years travels, and this one is OFF the list!!

RE: leaf spring broken..trailer legs?

From watching the videos the only way I can see it damaging the springs is if the legs unit is not installed correctly, or placed off center on a spring. Otherwise it appears to do what it was intended to do without damaging anything.

RE: Newbie - 36ft vs 41ft fifth wheel

We started out full time travel in a 38.5 5ft wheel, then moved to a 36 ft. Zero difference in the actual towing down the roads, a slight change in some turning. Seems the rv parks sites that would fit a 38.5 and a 36 were about the same. Interior space changed a lot, you would think a bit over 2 feet would not make a difference, but it does. Find the trailer that will fit your lifestyle and you will make it work.

RE: Valve stem extension

Any truck tire shop can install the extended steel or brass one piece valve stem to extend out between the opening in the outer wheel. No need for anything else, easy to access and add a tire monitor or just use your tire pressure gage, simple and not very expensive.

RE: JT's Strong Arm Travel Trailer Stabilizer Kit

I helped install 2 different set ups on friends rigs, one trailer and one 5th wheel. In the trailer we went to the steel shop and bought square tubing cut to the width of the trailer and mounted them with nuts and bolts into the existing frame work to fit the strong arms in the proper location to work. You want something ridgid to mount to. Yes, once installed the wiggle was gone and felt like the trailers were bolted to the ground. Well worth the money and effort to install.

RE: Low pressure at RV shower head. What is this?

It is a water restrictor, cuts the water flow. Will work without it in place but you will have more water flowing. If you keep the grey water drain open won't matter.

RE: Adding fan behind refrigerator...worthwhile??

When we full timed in a Mobile Suites 5th wheel I installed 2 fans, one at the bottom area and one up top at the factory installed vent. This way I was sucking hot air and helping it extract out the top. We found before that if we were parked where the kitchen/refridge side was exposed to the direct sunlight and it got hot, the fridge was not able to keep the correct temps. I could remove the fridge exterior acess panel and either plug in or unplug as the need arose. I bought 2 square box fans about 4 inches across and they fit very well and had no noise we could ever hear.

RE: Bowled two 300s, a 299, with 2nd lifetime 800 series !

WOW, way back when I used to bowl, could only dream of a game into the very high 200's. You are very good and thanks for sharing.

RE: Auxiliary brake system

I did not want to have to find someplace to store that unit when not in use, as it either needed to be stuck into the storage of the motorhome or into the vehicle somewhere.I opted to use the Stay and Play system mounted under the hood of the car. No muss, no fuss.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Now that was pretty smart to use that hole saw that way. I would never have thought of that.

RE: Patching an enclose underbelly

I used to cut a three sided flap with the solid side facing forward. Made sure the opening was wide enough for my shoulders to fit up and into the bottom. Then once finished up inside to reseal the flap I bought 2 inch by 1/2 inch thick wood slat, cut that wood so one inch would lay inside the cut out and one inch would lay where the flap would be and used 1 inch screws to secure the flap back into place. I used 3 pieces of wood to secure the flap. Then used either a quality tape or ran a bead of weatherproof sealant along the slit. If and when I need to get back into that space, the screws were easy to remove and reopen the flap.I made 4 of these under my 5th wheel for repairing either plumbing or slide out rams.

RE: Battery Problems

I would start pulling fuses and see what might be drawing all the power, using a meter or at least a test light to find the problem would be where i would start.

RE: Tire pressure monitor systems

TST has a long track record of being used on RV's and the customer service they provide is top notch. Having a tire monitor system can possibly save you a lot of pain and money letting you know ahead of time before a tire failure.

RE: Dumb Things We Did as Kids on 4July

I was about 11 and the next door kid was about 1 year older and his bright idea was to take empty 22 cal bullet shells he got from somewhere and take those wooden matches, snap the match head off and cram as many as possible into the empty shell. Once we got that shell packed, stand it upright and smack it with a large hammer. It gave a loud SNAP like a gun shot sound. That worked well for about 5 or 6 times, then one of the brass shells blew apart shooting a piece of brass into my forearm. Told my mom I caught it on a nail, she pulled the piece out and put a butterfly bandage on and doused it with that stuff that stung like heck. No more banging bullet shells while I finished growing up...could have been WAY worst than the small hole I got.

RE: Looking for 5 star RV Park

If northern Michigan is in your travels here is a unique park that will fit the bill, paved roads, paved 100 ft long sites, grass that is cut weekly, heated pool and hot tub, not very far from town. Very clean and well run park that many folks have purchased sites, some rent them out. Have a Look Pere Marquette Oaks

RE: Where have all the members gone on this forum?

I'm still here since Feb of 2004, check in just about everyday, used to try to post something helpful, or maybe try to correct some info given in error by someone. But over the years, seems my thoughts are not needed as others have jumped in before me and I don't feel the need to confirm someone's post just to get another of my posts seen. So just because you don't see a post doesn't mean we are not out here lurking!!

RE: Teton 5th Wheel

I helped a guy once when his one side jack failed and the front of the 5th wheel trailer nosed down. I used a 4x4 on a 5 ton floor jack and put that 4x4 right at the pin and pushed up allowing the nose to lift so we could get some other boards under the front frame work near that failed jack. He was able to then dig a hole under that failed jack to remove it and get it rebuilt. Where in Arizona are you?
