RE: Michelin commercial tire lifespan

I have Cooper 245/70/19.5 tires for 7.5 years. When I bought them the tire guy said they would last 10 years. So I looked on Cooper's website and they had a page about LT tires lasting 10 years. Sent them an email and they recommended 6 years for RV tires. It would be sad if 19.5 commercial tire would not outlast LT tires It depends on how the tires are used. Obviously, tires that are near their load limit continuously have more stress on them than those that are not. I've also heard the 6 year number for RVs. As noted, it's worth it to me to replace the tires early, but I also don't go cheap on tires either. So, I'm probably "wasting" money on those better tires, too. :D I was referring to the same use ( commercial or rv ) between 19.5 and LT tires .

RE: 8 Gauge Wire

If you are 25’ from battery to charger isn’t the run actually 50’ there and back ? I don't know. Is that true??? Its not AC. That has been my understanding . Perhaps one of the electrical guru’s will clarify

RE: Generator Gas Storage

Also for your small qtys non ethanol is not expensive ... Not where I live ! E10 is NOT as bad as people make out ! Just don't store it more than 2-4 weeks and make sure to run the carburetor dry after every use. That along makes it not great for small engines where 5 gals could last all summer

RE: DC to DC charger

I just use a pair of 8 gauge wires from the truck battery to the camper batteries. That eliminates the voltage drop of the 7 pin and puts a nice charge into the camper batteries whenever I drive. I use a 200 amp blade switch that is mounted on the truck battery to isolate the truck battery when the situation calls for it, but that is rare. The reason it’s working for you , and also for me , is the age of the truck . Newer trucks , last decade , have smart charging , meaning as soon as the starting batteries are satisfied charging goes way down , so the house batteries would get very little , especially with the voltage drop.

RE: Aluminum vs Steel flatbed

I have had the same aluminum flatbed for 20 years . 15 of those years it has been on a plow truck that saw many many mile on salt laden roads . The underside of truck was sprayed with fluid film every year . The flatbed and truck have held up extremely well under those conditions . I did take some pains to isolate the aluminum from steel where ever I could . Under the use that stated I don’t think you will have a problem with the aluminum .

RE: 36" Hitch Extension for 2" Receiver - Are they Made?

Or is it the reinforcement ring . Did you try the pin from the other side as fa as it will go and does it look straight . Either way it is made wrong .

I think the OP said the measurement was from the hitch to the outside of the bumper .

RE: How to rotate dually tires

If the tires age out without rotation, why even think about rotation? True enough . But then how much useful tread life ( $ ) are you sacrificing if your tires are timing out . One other point I noticed in your scenarios is in A you will need tires in 2037 , in B you will have a complete new set by 2036 , again , apples to apples . The scenarios are not mine. But do you suggest somebody do something to wear the tires faster so the tread is gone at the same time the tires age out? Maybe find somebody that drives hard or lots of miles, sell your tires at about half lifespan for the value of tread? No sir , I make no suggestions , there is no need .

RE: How to rotate dually tires

It seems you have switched from a 10 year cycle in Scenario A to a 7 year cycle in Scenario B . Not exactly apples to apples .

RE: Battery Charging on Truck Camper

Put a solar panel on the TC roof & your batteries will be charged on the road, at your camp spot AND when it’s parked at home…. My batteries are fully charged EVERY day by sunlight……. That doesn’t tell much . What size panels , for how long , to replace how many amp hours

RE: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

Still alive and kickin , heading up to the Adirondack’s for a week visiting friends . The old flojet water pump finally died last trip . Replaced it with Seaflo 3gpm and is it quiet and no pulsing . Very pleased . Safe travels all .
