RE: I-40 traverse from Asheville, NC to Gatlinburg, Tn

the truckers are not allowed in the left lane for a few miles in the gorge. Sometimes they tend to get clogged up. If the timing is right, we will pull into the rest area, west bound, and check the tires and let these guys go on. These guys are trying to make a living and we are just traveling for pleasure. Let these truckers get on over the road and make it home That's what I was saying, you really should use the right lane with them. They will set the pace and it is over the speed limit in spots lower in others.. You can get behind a "newbe" him I will pass and get behind one of the big boys. Like I said at 4am you cannot see those cures and how hard they are in the dark BUT you can follow the truckers taillights as they know.

RE: I-40 traverse from Asheville, NC to Gatlinburg, Tn

I do the "gorge" every year (sometimes twice) it is a twisty turny road with some up and down. I have a 2500 DMAX and a 39"+ travel Trailer. I follow a truck if he is dong the speed limit. If not I'll pass him and follow the next truck.. These guys do this run daily. It lasts for about 45 minutes then go back to the foot hill thing. Stay back from the guy in front of you as sometimes they need to brake and you will too. It is kinda fun after driving across TX, NM and other not so interesting states. The other thing I forgot was I do this at about 4:30AM in the pitch dark and in early spring when there are still snow storms and such but still with out a hitch (rv humor there). Have fun

RE: When this is over

I think most of the state parks will open soon. Of course the national parks will be open. The key here is to camp smart. Keep your distance , wear the face mask and wash your hands a lot. mostly camping can be in solitude and one doesn't need to have the big campfire with the neighbors unless everyone follows the rules. Just because our wobbly government says its over listen to the doctors and watch as the hospitals begin to do elective surgery again.

RE: sticky slides

I am suprised that you are having this issue where you live. I would think it would be more of a hot weather issue. Are you sure it is the rubber sticking? could it possibly be another substancw such as tree sap etc? Or are the seals deteriorating? I had this issue once here in AZ. If it is in fact the rubber and it is in good shape, WD 40 should do the trick. The solvent(carrier) will evaporate so quick that the rubber won't notice it. WD 40 is in fact recommended by many products made of rubber that need to be lubricated to install them. motorcycle/Atv grips come to mind. If this bothers you, just spray it on the non seal contact surface. When dry, just the wax based lubricant will remain. Cheap, easy and everyone has a can or two kicking around. We spend the winters in Florida to LV to AZ so we have very little time in cold environments.

RE: Gray and Black tank sensor issue

Forget you ever saw them. Non work forever. learn to keep track of your usage. You will sleep better. X2I agree I have never had the sensors work though the 1st year on all the trailers I've owned and I've owned several. In the fresh water tank(s) if the overflow has water running out .... it is full if you open the drain and nothing comes out it is empty. Black water same thing but more visual, lol. None worth your time or effort. Once you've done the RV thing for a few years you tend to ignore certain things that make you scream and this is one of them.

sticky slides

The last couple of Jaycos have had slides that really seem to stay stuck to the trailer body for a longer time then they should, IMO. I mean when I open or close the slides after they have sat for a week or a couple months the slide will slow and finally pop off the trailer body when opening. What do you use to stop the rubber from adhering to the trailer?? I've heard everything from furniture polish to WD40 what works best and is safe to use? TIA Tom

RE: Slide out awnings yay or nay?

Carry an 8' step ladder and an leaf blower........ total cost is less than one topper and the ladder has several uses. No ladder needed either if you are under 65 and can use the ladder on your rig.

"If it's someone's time to go, I can't save them. Some people simply will die from this virus, like it or not. Everyone dies eventually, like it or not. However, the people who are most susceptible are still free to stay away from the rest of us (self-isolate) as we resume our own survival tasks." Since the Michigan rallies, I’m all for this because it looks like support for this mainly comes from a particular political bent, and if they want to race for the exit, have at it! X2 and then some let Darwin rule !!!!

759,134 cases; 40,265 dead. in how many months? in what 2 or 3 months is the rate of the flu??? I am tired of people pulling the flu out for comparisons. Yogi said "It ain't over till it's over" If you don't believe that put on a red hat and go play outside like there is no tomorrow and many will be right .... there will be no tomorrow.

RE: And Texas Caves In

Here is ,I think, a new thought for bars, restaurants and maybe others..... do those ultra violet or ozone machines kill this virus??? They work with my Cpac machine to kill 99% of germs in a few minutes. So could you use them in bars etc on a scale to kill the germs in the entire room? If this works there could be a monitor light outside indicating a clean environment and people could perhaps sit closer may still using the mask or something. Just wondering...................

Good news it's April and the virus should be forgotten about. It was over by Easter, right? I don't know why we are still screwing around at home two weeks later. Let's get out and paarr-teee!!! I will guess you are trying to be a S A and that's fine. Fact is there were several States ready to roll on Easter. Which ones? For one South dakota. "The New York Times reports that, as of 2 April, a small group of states – Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota – had no known lockdown orders in place. All of these states have Republican gove?rnors". All the states you list have peak death rates well after my Dem state. We hit peak death today. Your red states are lagging behind. Arkansa peak death in 14 days Iowa---- 19 day Nebraska-- 13 days ND ----17 days SD-----22 days https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america How were they ready to roll on Easter when they're still not peaked yet? There are no credible doctors or scientists that think the reopening of the sates is a prudent idea . The idea that you go back to "normal" is truly idiotic. Although people are pissed about the hunkering down most will listen to logic and those that won't will join the statistics.

I see Texas will be the first state to partially open "stuff" next week. bumpy SD was never closed. Sssshhhh. SD has more elk or mountain goats than people. I remember driving through there thinking "if Johnny doesn't like the girl next door (maybe 5 or 10 miles away" he's screwed he'll be a lonely farm boy the rest of his life LOL. There more folks getting gas for there cars in New york that all the people in SD.

Good news it's April and the virus should be forgotten about. Just because we see a slight decrease that will not do much if the states open to fast ( and they will as more and more don't adhere to the guidelines). We see plenty of people at the big box stores, these are nothing but breeder boxes and as the general population inter acts with them ........... Deja vue.

Do you y'all understand 90% of the workforce is STILL WORKING!!! So that tells me to keeping your distance and practicing personal hygiene and wearing a mask with the people working is working. So get yer asses back to work!!! 90% eh where did you get those stats???? I'm thinking somewhere between 25 and 30% but that is a "guess".

Budget shortfalls = Lets raise taxes!!! Just wait. Maybe they can reverse the damage done with their "tax relief" that happened a year ago. I'll give up the pittance if the rich return the trillion.
