RE: Should/will Glacier, Teton and Yellowstone open?

Presenting information in sensationalist manner is whipping up hysteria. You're saying that anything the media says is totally believed by everyone leading to hysteria. What hysteria are you seeing that I am not?No hysteria? Tell me why you can't buy a roll of toilet paper then.

You have a much higher chance of dieing in an auto accident this year. So how many of you leave your car parked for months at a time?

There a difference between reporting news and giving opinions.Ok, cite an opinion a news outlet has given about this that's creating hysteria. There is no such thing as a "News Outlet". But I'll play your silly game - how about the proclaiming 2.2 million people were going to die. Lets see in the end how that turns out.

RE: Should/will Glacier, Teton and Yellowstone open?

Decisions have largely been made based on political WILL and the media has been doing everything possible to whip up hysteria and that drives the political will. Why is it always the media's fault? Because they're the ones creating and perpetuating the hysteria? How? By reporting what's going on?? They're the messenger. You don't want to know what's happening? I don't follow this constant media-bashing 'logic' .There a difference between reporting news and giving opinions. Huntley-Brinkley reported news they ain't been around for a long time.

RE: Should/will Glacier, Teton and Yellowstone open?

..... Basing what is going to happen in the rest of this country upon what is happening in NYC isn't realistic. The predictions are that this virus is spreading and will continue to spread like a wildfire in a wind storm. It can spread rapidly from people who show no symptoms and never know they are carriers. A 6 foot social isolation zone is a Minimum and no guarantee of safety. Most of us are in strict isolation, now wearing masks and not handling groceries or even US mail. I try to keep a 20-30 foot distance from others. What do you think would happen with millions of visitors in visitor centers, using campground bathrooms, touching gas pump handles, or even walking nearby others on trails? A you going to hand your credit card or pass to a entrance station ranger and then just put it in your pocket? Some people have no idea what is happening and what is headed their way.Reread your first sentence. Predictions don't matter, only facts. The facts remain to be seen.

RE: Should/will Glacier, Teton and Yellowstone open?

Living in NY State and fairly close to NYC, I can tell you I have a different perspective than expressed by several on this thread. Infections and deaths and the huge costs are becoming evident. Even 50 miles from the City, my neighborhood is starting to look like a war zone. There is a huge "Mash" unit and testing facility that has already been erected in a large parking lot. Another mile away construction is underway to erect another unit. I think it will house something like a thousand hospital beds. People are hunkered down and still the infections are growing at a rapid rate. Everything is at a stand still and people are dying. Not just old people who would have died anyway. People of all ages are dying and many of those who recover talk about a near death experience. This is a big deal, not likely to end in a month or two. In fact it is by no means clear how or when it will end. This is not China where the government has endless power. In the US we cannot even keep track of tens of millions of illegals who are also becoming infected and dying. Flattening the curve does not stop the infection. Flattening does not even keep the infections down to the level that our healthcare system can cope. Flattening certainly does not end the infections.NYC has the highest infection rate of anywhere in the world. Why do you think that is? Do you think cramming several million people into a few square miles has something to do with it. Or riding to work in subway cars packed tighter then sardines in a can? The rest of this country doesn't I've like NYC does. Basing what is going to happen in the rest of this country upon what is happening in NYC isn't realistic.

RE: Stimulus Check , what are you going to do with yours ?

Put it in the savings account for when the feds come calling for it back. This ^^^^^^ It’s a tax credit towards 2020 folks. That's a taste of reality. :(Except it's totally false unless you owe back taxes.

RE: camping in ohio

I guess some people will always think the rules are for everyone else but them.Since you already addressed the OP I'm going to make a WAG and guess you are addressing me. So I'll just put this out there. Where I live there are no rules against camping. There are rules for social distancing, gathering in large groups, etc. I can certainly can do that in a campground provided my neighbors don't come over and insist on invading my space.

Next time call the campground instead of RV Net and you might get your question answered.

RE: 20 year loan for RV?

OMB, a 20 year loan on a depreciating toy. Even at 4% you’ll pay more than double for it. A trailer at the end of 20 years might be worth 1/10th of what you paid for it. :SAnd in the meantime while you saved up for that RV, the kids grew up and were gone before they got the chance to see the country. One size doesn't fit all. Nothing wrong with resposible debt.

RE: coronavirus...put it into perspective

They should have a chart, based on time, how many people are still in denial! What I am reading in this thread is pretty remarkable. The other side of the coin is that you're just gullible to media bloviating, while the rest of us are more pragmatic.

RE: coronavirus...put it into perspective

A proper calculation of mortality rate is: total dead divided by total population. That's one way. Another is to compare the dead to those infected, and that's where the numbers go way up. That's why we're so concerned about its spread. The number of dead vs those infected mean nothing unless you also know how many will be infected. By your version, if 2 people out of 30 million got infected and both died, you would have a 100% fatality rate; a totally useless statistic.

RE: coronavirus...put it into perspective

The media is surely sensationalizing this pandemic. But it is the government (both parties) that are advising shelter at home policies. I'm not a fan of the media, and feel they definitely have an agenda. But there is more to todays issues than that. What is it you mean by shelter at home? If you mean people showing symptoms should stay home; If you mean everyone should maintain a safe distance/contact, I think everyone would agree with those things. If you mean all businesses should shut down and remain closed for weeks / months and everyone remain inside - that's an example of the media sowing sensationalism, chaos and hysteria. Which is precisely why everyone is buying months worth of toilet paper. And just like someone said a day or two ago; when its all over and done instead of admitting to their hysteria peddling, the Media is going to say - wow, we dodged a bullet.

RE: coronavirus...put it into perspective

"Clickbait" is the new headlines. Facts have little to do with it.They are reporting what experts are saying. How is that not facts? You 'fake news' guys just create more fear and confusion..as if we're supposed to listen to you and not the media.I'm sure what you meant to say was - they find an expert to support their narrative then put him on TV.

Makes sense since a simulation/mathematical modeling starts with data that has been collected.Exactly - a model built on assumptions is wothless. Just look at how many times some form of he word "assume" is used in the text. SWAG.

Did you winterize it or someone else? If someone else, look for the cap to this drain behind the outside door for the water heater.
