RE: Tire Chains

I carry a set for the truck and a set for the trailer, only so I can say I have them if asked. I never plan on using them, I'll just wait storms out until the roads are cleared.

RE: 12 Volt/120 Volt Portable Air Compressor

Forget 12 volt compressors. IMO, those are for inflating your kids air mattresses or your bike tires, not your RV tires. If you want to be happy, get a 120 volt pancake style compressor. Chum lee The Viairs are heavy duty and more than capable of airing up RV tires. My Viair 400 weighs 11 pounds and draws up to 30 amps. However they are expensive and don't have a tank so aren't any good for air tools. I went with one because a pancake compressor takes up more room than I want to give up for a compressor.

RE: Unlikeliest of engine swaps!!

The video shows him coming out of the snow sheds on the Coquihalla. That is an 8% grade.

RE: 12 Volt/120 Volt Portable Air Compressor

My Viair 400P airs up my truck and trailer tires to 80PSI no problem. Strictly 12V though, no 120V option. Can draw up to 30 amps as well. When we are staying somewhere for an extended period I drop the rears on my truck down to 50 PSI. The Viair has no problem getting them back up to 80 in a few minutes.

RE: Junk Food Breakfast Cereals

Original Shredded Wheat with sliced banana and blueberries. Home made 100% whole wheat toast. Here is a Trivia Question: DO you know the story of Shredded Wheat? (Man did this dredge up an old memory). No I didn't. I do now. Very interesting, I had no idea it had been around that long.

RE: Colors of trucks!

My 2011 Ram is hunter green. Get a lot of compliments on the colour but don't see many around. It's one of those colours that changes according to the light. It is green but can also look blue or black depending on the light. Like other dark colours it is hard to keep clean.

RE: The price of new trucks is beyond comprehension!

I won't need another truck, It has 93,000 KM and at this rate I will be 85 by the time it hits 200K.

I wouldn’t get rid of it until I found out why it was there.

RE: Garrett turbo files for bankruptcy

IMHO...screwed by corporate management (that bought them) Investors got one new Garrett share for every 10 Honeywell shares they owned. No one bought them. Looks like it was just done to get out from under the asbestos liability. So will the liability go back to Honeywell if Garrett goes bust?

RE: Garrett turbo files for bankruptcy

Looks like Honeywell used them to dump a bunch of debt and asbestos liabilities. Vulture capitalism. Garrett Files Suit Wonder how Honeywell convinced people to accept shares in this scam.

RE: PRICE DROPS coming on new GM small diesels

Had a read on the GM engine and it looks really interesting. One thing did give me a pause. The belt for the variable flow oil pump has to be changed every 150,000 miles. Changing it requires removing the transmission as well as the transfer case on 4WD's. Might be an issue for high mileage drivers. Thnx for posting that, no way in H Id ever consider buying such loony design. I don't know, 150K is a lot of miles for me. I'd also want to know what changing it would cost. Might not be a deal breaker if I really liked the truck.

RE: How do you pay your bills on the road on extended trips?

I use a VPN. The VPN app encrypts your information before it leaves your computer so it doesn't matter who's wifi you are using.

RE: Nikola and GM team up to make 900 HP Electric Supertruck.

Tesla stock down 21% today, down 34% this month. Competition is on the way, VW's first MEB platform cars are coming out in the new year and look like they could provide some real competition for the 3 and Y. The looks of the ID3 is kinda cool. I’m not sure why they decided not to sell it on this side of the pond. The ID4 and Audi Q4 e-tron SUV's and e-tron Sportback are due out next year in North America.. The MEB platform has high floor and low floor configurations which allow it to be used for sedans and SUV's. I think the ID4 will find a market. Checks a lot of boxes for the medium sized SUV bunch including a towing capacity. Looking forward to seeing it. As long as you aren't towing very far.

"using both batteries and hydrogen fuel cells..." He's a hybrid, like the Toyota fuel cell powered Kenworth that has been hauling containers out of Long Beach CA for years... Fuel cell vehicles are electric, They convert hydrogen directly into electricity, the only byproduct is water..

RE: 2019–20 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC POSTINGS

Thank You I wish statistics could be released that provides percentage lethality of the 70-79.5 age group without underlying risks of morbidity. Old age increases the risk of morbidity.
