RE: Walmart overnight and running the generator

YES, I will run the generator in a Walmart parking lot being conscious of others around me. However, I ALWAYS use a Genturi on the genny exhaust if I will be sleeping while running the generator.

RE: 30amp Y Splitter for 2 RV's

The 15 to 30 amp adapters are the weak point of the circuit. I made an extension cord with a 30 amp receptacle on one end and a TRUE 20 amp plug on the other. The real 20 amp plug has the hot blade cross wise to the neutral. If you have 12 ga wire to the receptacle, replace it with a real 20 amp receptacle. This eliminates the weak 15 amp adapter.

RE: Onan Marquis 5500 put out too much voltage

Might be comparing apples to oranges, but my Generac Guardian 5500 recently started acting up and was putting out 153 volts after driving through much rain. Removed cover to expose control board and found it was covered in a thick layer of dust and grime and was damp from the previous days rain. After cleaning the dust off, I sprayed the contacts and plug with electronic contact spray. That fixed the problem. You said you replaced the control board, but did you clean the plug? Also, after cleaning the control board, I discovered a tiny potentiometer which, according to the manual, is used to adjust the output voltage.

RE: Fibreglass wall laminate separating??

My son had a similar problem on his 5th wheel after a trip through a rough median avoiding an accident. Our local RV shop did replace the corner moldings with wider ones and was fine till he sold it a few years ago. As far as the delam is concerned, if the wood is rotted no amount of glue is going to fix it. JMHO

RE: Scrape and seal

Where the roof meets the sidewalls, the joint is usually 'sealed' with Dicor or similar product. To me, it sounds like the old Dicor is scraped off and fresh Dicor reapplied. To my knowledge, there are no physical seals on the roof.

RE: I Have One Chance

Hi neighbor! The wife and I have been traveling the country for years in our motorhome and wouldn't (won't) travel any other way. I have modified our motorhome to suit our needs and we are very comfortable in it for months at a time. I you're looking for a resort with a variety of park models to try out, Lake-in-Wood around Lancaster would be my choice. It is pretty much a self-contained rv park with all the amenities you need, including a restaurant. Good Luck with your quest and Happy Retirement!

RE: Time to replace windshield /side curtains

My wife just finished replacing about a half dozen torn loops on our curtains. All you need is someone with sewing skills. I'll be putting them back up today.

RE: Goodyear plans to close their Gadsden, Alabama plant

Gadsden can handle the loss. That area survived the closing of Fort McClellan a number of years ago. That is the plant made famous by the Lily Ledbetter(sp) equal pay lawsuit. Lost a good friend who worked and retired from that plant a couple years ago. He passed from cancers that were common to others who worked there.

RE: Good Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner

I use a $22 bluetooth scanner from Amazon and a $4 app. Reads and resets fault codes on everything I've plugged it into so far. Found #8 coil pack on my motorhome was bad. Have you used it on a diesel? No, I have not. I don't have the manual handy (in the motorhome) but I believe it works on all OBDII vehicles.

RE: ONAN generator no start

If you're hearing a rapid clicking (not all that loud) it could just be the fuel pump not getting fuel. Make sure you have enough gas in the tank. If it's not cranking, check connections as mentioned above.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

I picked up a 10" saw blade at the Home Depot, for my table saw. It's a Diablo brand, 24 teeth and primarily used for ripping. I figured since there will be a bunch of ripping going on during the rest of this rebuild, it might be a good thing. I have been using that Diablo blade for a long time ripping oak, walnut, cherry, mahogany, pine, spruce.....etc., some of it at full depth. It seems as sharp today as it was when I first put it on. Great blade!

RE: Quarantine in RV?

I would not crank it for a full minute. That may eventually lead to starter failure. Most gens say to crank for 10-15 seconds at a time with a minute or so in between. Check for spark and then use starting fluid to get it going. If it starts then stops, then you have a fuel delivery problem.

RE: Solved: Vibration while accelerating issue

Had the identical problem on my V10 in the motorhome. Checked U-joints, center bearing, etc. Turned out to be a bad coil pack on #8 cylinder. Swore it was a drive train problem. Wish I had seen your earlier post, I could have helped. Good job!

RE: Polyester-mites

I heard that dryer sheets keep them away. Since using them, have not seen any mite residue.
