Dale Blaney (Dave's brother, Ryan Blaney's uncle) was driving the car that was involved Sunday night. Thankfully, he was not injured, but the spectator seriously injured is in critical condition in the hospital in Daytona. Prayers for him and his family.

Well, for those of us looking for our racing 'fix' Thursday night, it's looking like Mother Nature is highly likely to intervene. VERY high rain probabilities for tonight through Thursday in the Daytona area, which would mean high probability of the 500 starting grid being set 'by the NASCAR rulebook'. [emoticon]

The good news is that Daytona only received an inch of rain today. Our area (between Cocoa and Melbourne) received almost 4" - and it's still raining.

I wonder how Brian is feeling after blazing article this AM in the Wall Street Journal. My gosh, the lack of a crowd at the Clash. No Monster Energy Signage, not for sale in the concession stands, a picture area with the Sprint logo still in the background. My oh my! Prostitute yourself to Corporate America and this what you get. You are no longer in control!

So the field is set. No real drama until the final lap(s) of the second Duel when Hamlin/Dillon 'train' steamrollered Junior.

Sooooo.......Whaddya think of the 'New' NASCAR? Congrats to Kurt Busch, the last Stewart Haas driver standing. The Stages? Kinda went how I thought it might. Stage 1: Heavy Eyelids. Stage 2: Coma. Stage 3: Mayhem like it's always been. And, not a fan of the new crash damage rule. For years, the teams or NASCAR were able to determine when to pull the plug on a race with a damaged car, either through the crew chief's judgment or NASCAR's black flag.

I wonder if Jamie McMurray has entered the Witness Protection Program? With his driving today and being either a cause or a factor in the 3 big wrecks, he ought to be. Believe there's a line of drivers that would like to have a four letter word with him...........

Good description.
I made a good nap in most of the first segment. Then switched back and forth on Fixer Upper on the 2nd segment.....and sharpened some old drill bits on my drill doctor then dozed a bit till the last 25 laps in the last segment.
Wonder how many vehicle were destroyed in the truck/Xfinity and cup rac.....or er' programs.

It did make for a banner weekend for scrap metal. Noticed a large expanse of empty seats under the suites/press box during the red flag. Mass potty break? Beer refueling?

At least the weather was perfect save for the stiff East breeze....

Good post thomasmnile.
Only 5 cars in the whole field that were NOT involved or damaged in a wreck. Yes, rough day for McMurray. Probably needed security to get him out of town.
Daytona weekend (trucks, xfinity, Monster) was a demolition derby for sure.

Congrats to Kurt for surviving and leading a lap - the last one.
