Started looking at this site back in 2002 when it was difficult to find a really good place for RV related info. The folks here were more than helpful. It helped me decide to purchase a 5th wheel and a diesel tow vehicle. We had a small TT, but knew we wanted to do some serious traveling after retirement.

I used to do a copy & paste for potential trips, cooking ideas, and snowbirding ideas onto Word documents so I'd have all that valuable information in one spot & in print. I have to say that the trip documents I put together really helped when traveling to the Rockies and out east. Info on our winter trips to Florida narrowed down potential campgrounds to the point we found our 4 month winter stay place away from the snow and cold.

Welcome!
99% of the members are very helpful and awesome. Thankfully, there's only a small percentage that will criticize your post or tell you to search for the answer. Please don't get scared off by them. They forget that they were once beginners, too. Also, remember there are many separate sections of this forum so pick your spot and ask away.
Happy camping!!

Welcome! My wife and I also just joined the RV lifestyle. We will be FT for a while when we move in the next few weeks. Hope it is fun and safe!

I'm querying the forum administration on bloggers promoting their web log site as opposed to fully commercial web site promoters. We have had bloggers post their experiences and travels in the past on this forum and even provided ideas and suggestions for products and services they used (within their site, not on the forum, though it is not against the forum rules to share your experience and the product you personally used).

I've reviewed mycamperfriend's profile and blog.

The reason why this is not so "cut and dry" is that mycampingfriend has not posted any promotional information directly in the threads, and has participated as with any other member in various areas; well within the Forum Rules.

After reviewing mycamperfriend's blog, based on the link in their sig however, there is a section entitled "Product List" that explicitly states, "We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates." and while the products listed are items that the blogger has used, it does run in a grey area in that they are benefiting financially through the affiliation with Amazon and the affiliated sites.

So, until I get a decision from the forum administration about this, I'm letting their post and sig stand.

Lou, it was the info in your last paragraph that caused me to report this.
We have friends in tha Amazon Affiliates program and they are definitely making some money from it.
So I felt that their links were a violation of the Forum rules.

But I have no problem if it's allowed to stay. Some blogs are disguised as just innocent blogs but actually help the blogger to generate money for themselves.

I don't think this blog should be allowed. He's made 12 posts in the past day.

I received an answer from the forum administration and sent a PM to mycamperfriend with the finding.

You will see that the post was deleted. The other moderators have been notified for their respective areas until mycamperfriend's sig has been modified.
