Did it make the news down there that all the Sears stores in Canada are closing down as well? This is not like the Target situation where they opened up many stores here, a few years ago only to close them down just a couple of years later. Sears has been in Canada for ever, they seemed to have as many stores as Wal Mart does now, we're really sorry to see them go.

Never did make sense after Walmart started the Supercenters. They were competing with themselves. I've noticed sometimes the prices in the Supercenters were cheaper than Sam's Club or Costco.
Business practices of companies never bothered me. My primary loyalty is to my wallet.

This has be a prime example of not having a clue or not keeping up with the times.
Sears was the original mail order, catalog store. You'd think they would have been right on top of online shopping.
Sad to see them go.

Sears exited the catalog business in 1993, before the web and online shopping became a thing. They also failed to see the potential in online shopping until after others had already proven it and it was too late.

I used to prefer Sears to many other stores, but don't anymore. The merger with Kmart really damaged them, in my opinion.

Hadn't heard about them closing down all stores in Canada, but it's sad. I think it's just a matter of time for them in the US too.

We bought a Craftsman tool kit for our son, a few years ago (Christmas present). Two days, the ratchet broke. So, with Lifetime warranty and only two days, of course, we took it back. The tool department handed us a "used" ratchet, scratched up.

We said "What? This is brand new kit, two days old."

Sears Guys says, "We only give used or 'refurbished' on warranty."
After a less than interesting discussion with this idiot ... we went to the department manager - same thing. We went to the store manager, and got a brand new ratchet, finally.

Haven't been in a Sears store since, and never will again.

Even with Sears closed. Crafstman tools can be found at Some hardware stores and other stores. Just so you know.. I THINK it is True Value that carries Crafstman but please do not quote me on that.

Wasn't it Simpson / Sears in Canada? Didn't Hudson Bay own Target as well?

Growing up I never thought I would see the demise of Montgomery Ward's and Sears.
