Does anyone know how to update a thread that has been inactive/closed for a while and bring it out of hiding?

I wanted to update a topic with some info that I found but simply replying to a closed or otherwise buried thread doesn't unbury it so it comes to the forefront. So only subscribers to that thread would see the info correct?

Or do I just need to start a whole new thread?

Thanks

After the thread is a year old it's archived and you can't post to it. What most do is search for the old thread and copy the link, then start a new thread, then post the link to the old thread in the new thread along with the update.

The easiest way to that is to start a new thread and in the very first line, or somewhere in your text, create a link to the original so anyone can go back and read it. That should catch them up ... if they want to read it. Now granted, everyone who originally contributed to posing comments on the original thread might not see the or pay attention or even want to be bothered with a new post. But that's about the only way to do it.

Thanks all. It's not a very old thread; just didn't know if there was a way to get it out front. I'll just start a new one with link to original.

If you can still post to the thread, the forum will bring it back to the top of the pile once you add your post. Only link to it if it's archived and not accepting new posts.
