My philosophy is.... There is no replacement for displacement. Don't own a weenie motor and don't want one. Little motors are for poser trucks.

So I have a 2017 F150 with 3.5 Ecoboost and 3.55 gears. I rented a 6x10 dual axle dump trailer and loaded it with 2.5 yards of landscape rock. I'm thinking maybe 8000-9000lbs total.

Landscaping rock is generally 3,200-4,000 pounds per yard. Your total trailer weight was probably a lot more than you thought.

I used to believe as you do. I have the 3.5, and very pleasantly surprised with how well it performs.

1999 called. They want their hypocrisy back.....

Grodyman, you either need to check your facts or maybe one of the charge air tunes for a leak.
I'm not touting the invincible virtues of the Ecoboost, but they're the real deal for power.
Now if you said it "sounded" like a lawnmower I might agree, but it should/will spank any other 1/2 ton gasser out there. And I don't even like fords, lol.

My 3.5 EcoBoost will run circles around either the 7.5 V8 or the V10 that I had in the past and give much better fuel economy while doing it.

Those who are saying there is some kind of replacement for displacement, how does your tiny turbo engine do at low boost levels? And what rpm is needed to make 300 lb ft at low boost levels?
