Ag. Check points;we all know understand and tolerate them, never a problem.
Couple of weeks ago we were heade to redwood. National forest from Grants Pas Oregon.
Ag check ahead, ok I fall into line with everyone else, multiple lanes, cars trucks, other rv,s. Everyone pauses about thirty seconds and moves on. Normal right?
My turn, she looks at my NY tags,Have you any fresh fruits or vegetables on board?"
"No we Don,t"
"w
When was the last time this vehicle was in Ny?"
"About 8or9weeks ago."
She then grabs a flashlight and inspection miror and gives the undercarriage of both truck and trailer a thorough going over. She then does a second tour inspecting the roof area.
I was quite surprised, but oh well not an imposition.
"I would like to inspect the interior"
"Not with out a warrant"
"Sir Weare trying to protect our agricultural resources"
"I understand that, bbut you are not entering my trailer without a warrant !"
She gave me a look that could kill, and entered her both and made a phone call.
Minute is so later she comes out, shoves a handful of invasive critter literature into my hand and said,"move on"
Has anyone else been subjected to such nonsense,or did this inspector just have a bone for New Yorkers?

Yeah I have...several times when I was on the road.
I don't have any thing to hide so they get to look wherever they want. They have their look and I'm on my way.
Your pulling the same trick as sovereign citizens thugs do when their asked to comply.

We don't consider inspections nonsense. Childish behavior on your part.

Retired cop also says "not without a warrant". Too many low lifes "in authority" with attitudes today.
Know your Rights and assert them.

Sometimes it's necessary to let civil servants know that they do certain things under the sufferance of the masses. It doesn't hurt to let them know that these things are not a given and should not be taken for granted. I've said no to LEO's asking to look in my vehicle. I have nothing to hide, but just on principle.
After all, we can blame Nancy, she was the one who preached "Just Say No".

I've gone thru several times without an issue but if they wanted, I'd say come on in as long as your Ok with four dogs nipping at your ankles.
I'd guess in general most of us recognize these Border agents/Agricultural agents have a job to do and whether you allow a search or don't, that's your choice, your no more nor less an American for doing what's right for you. Having a Law enforcement background, I can say with certainty, refusing a cursory search for fruits and vegetables would cause one to think, "what are you hiding"...that's just human nature...but once again, do what is right for you!

The SC has decided at least twice that California's agriculture pest inspections do not require a warrant.

I wonder if I would be arrested and deported for that. We got searched once at the international border, cost us a tomato.

You certainly have the right to refuse a search, but then they also have the right to tell you to turn around and go back the way you came...
