Looking at used 2011 F350 power stroke crew cab to pull my travel trailer. Vehicle has 95k miles. What is the opinion of the forum as to the benefit of an extended warranty for this truck?
Okay. It is not a factory extended warranty. It is an aftermarket insurance policy that covers the turbo and the HPFP, but not the radiator. While I have enough money to buy an '11, I do not have enough to buy a '15-20 without going into debt, which I am trying to avoid.

In a word, yes.

Make SURE it covers the HPFP and the radiator and for sure the turbo. Those are the biggies.

I have a different opinion.
First, you’re not going to find any FoMoCo factory backed warranty on a 9 year old rig.
If you don’t think you can trust it, and can’t fix it yourself (for the most part) then I’d seriously consider investing the extra money you’ll spend on the warranty on a newer/different truck. IE, one that you don’t have to worry about the injection pump taking out the whole fuel system, and the turbo and radiator.
Now if you’re getting a screamin deal on a very nice condition truck, consider that savings as funds for potential future repairs, put a CP4 bypass kit on it to prevent possible injection pump failure causing a $1000 issue to be a $10k issue. And save the rest for a rainy day.

Like any vehicle, it could be a very good vehicle or not.
But if I was getting a powerstroke I’d want ‘15 or newer, or in the same price range consider another brand.

I am just curious... about how much is a warranty for a 9 year old vehicle with 100,000 miles on it? And for how long will the warranty last?

I also say Yes, while being a very good engine, as with all new things electronics and emmisions have brought more issues.

If you want warranty I think you should buy a new truck.
