He reneged on the deal so tell him your not going to fall for it.
Besides, he's going to pocket the cash.

If you really want to see him go nuts, tell him to call you when he gets it fixed so you can see it.

Pretty sure it’s a done deal and a lesson learned. Never fall for the “poor dealer” schtick.
Chalk it up to a lesson and have fun with the new rig!!
Pretty sure I’ve spent $2500 on dumber stuff than that....lol

Why, why didn't you get this "sharing" in writing?

He probably already took the 2500 off what he offered you for the trade in.

As others are pointing out, this is incredibly odd. OP - I'm confused by your language. You 'traded' your rig, or you 'agreed to trade' your rig? In other words, what is the current status of this transaction?

I would never agree to any compensation without it being written specifically into the purchase agreement. Many RV dealers quote trades without ever looking at it. This is simply another gimmick to try to get money. Unless you are contractually obligated, refuse.

If he thought your trade was worth less because of the upholstery, he should have reduced the amount he offered for it. Asking you for cash is irregular, to say the least. Sounds like he wants to pocket the money rather than have it on the books as part of a transaction.

Unless it's in the contract that you signed, I'd tell him to forget it.

If I am reading this right it is too late to walk from this one-sided deal. Sounds like the OP got the shaft and drove it away.

If the deal is done, it is done, but, when I trade off a vehicle it is as is where is, that is the deal or I walk!

Lol at this thread. Tough guys negotiating a trade in when they’re still getting put thru the mill and don’t even know it!
