Hey guys,

I really would not like to pull anymore weight than I need to, but who does! Is there a way to know if you can fill up close to your destination? There must be way to find out before you get there?

Thanks,
Ben

Most campgrounds have water filling stations ( if you didn't get a site with water on it), depending on what time of year you are visiting. Some you can use you hose with, others need a water bandit. This is mostly area dependent. Or if the threads are broken.

A couple of options we have used.
Sani dumps
Because most places that offer a dump station also have POTABLE water available in the area.
and these come in handy for places that a faucet does not have the threaded fitting for attaching your hose.

I have never seen an established campground that didn't have water available somewhere on the property. If you're rustic camping or boondocking all bets are off.

It one thing if you are on the road and need water. Sure you get it from wherever you can. However if your leaving from home, you are better filling your tanks from a known source and bringing it with you.
The weight of the water is negligible and will have no measurable impact on your MPG's

You sanitized at home? No fun to find water once you arrive at a campground. What if closest water point is closed, contaminated or otherwise unavailable? No stopping to dry camp or boondock...no water. Your choice. If 400 pounds of water makes that much of difference to you, you need a better TV.
