Hello everyone, I hope your all having happy travels! I'm about a month into my purchase of a 1994 Ford V10, class A motorhome. Now I'm getting a very high-pitched sound when accelerate on a cold engine. Called a mechanic for feedback and he states likely a loose belt. He said solution to problem will depend on if my 1994 Ford V10 has a V belt or a Serpentine belt. He said he was unsure which year Ford changed this. Does anyone know which type of belt the 1994 V10 has? Otherwise, I guess I can try to call Ford. Thanks, Robin

I am unaware of any 1994 V10
1994 Ford F53 RV chassis is a 460 V8
Did the PO do a one off custom install?
With a crate V10, then you Need to get the engine number of the engine block in order to get the correct parts

Are you asking because you're just curious? Or are you asking because you want to go to the parts store and buy a replacement belt? If you're not going to do the actual repair I would just take it to the mechanic and let them figure out which belts it needs.

Sorry, but Ford didn't put a V-10 in your 1994 motorhome. You should have the 7.5L 460 engine unless of course a previous owner retro fit you motorhome to fit the V-10.

You could either go to a Ford truck parts web site or to a Ford truck dealer, or any good auto parts store and give them your vehicle info and ask for what you want. (serpentine belt) Then see what they bring you. As others have said, you probably don't have a V-10, more likely a 460 (7.3 L) V-8. Or just look under the doghouse at the front of the engine.
A Ford Truck dealer may not be able to help you because of the age of your vehicle.
www.autohausaz.com Use 1994 Ford F350 with 7.3 L gas V-8 A place to start. You may also need a belt tensioner and idler pulley. Verify the length of the belt before you order. There are several different sizes.

The 460 in your MH will have a serpentine belt. I would replace the belt, tensioner and any idler pulleys.

Your 460 has 2 flat belts.
Rear belt goes from crankshaft to Power steering pump, to AC compressor, under tensioner, to water pump and back to crankshaft.
Front belt goes from crankshaft to water pump, to alternator, to smog pump and back to crankshaft.
Your squeal is most likely from the front belt. It is tensioned by adjusting the alternator.
While on the subject of F53 460s
Your 2 radiator hoses only fit a 460 MH and Motorcraft is the only supplier/manufacture. While some parts books show other brand names, they won't fit. Carry spares.
Lower hose....MOTORCRAFT KM4969
Upper hose....Motorcraft KM4941
