As I continue to read preprints of studies evaluating the poor vaccine induced and natural immunity (from previous variants) against omicron; I am happy with my decision to get a booster (and deal with the 24hrs of reactions). The studies indicate most fully vaccinated people (unless recently vaccinated) will have very poor protection against omicron. Most previously infected people (except possibly those infected by Delta) will have poor protection against omicron.
Boosters, mask use, and social distancing are our best defenses against this variant which fortunately, so far, appears to make people less sick than previous variants. What I have not seen is a study of disease intensity broken down by groups: never infected or vaccinated, natural immunity with identified causal variant, vaccinated with identified vaccine and number of doses.
Since reinfection or breakthrough infections are occurring with omicron and since some immunity typically diminishes diseases intensity we cannot be certain how severe the disease is from this variant compared to past variants until we compare across patients with the same immunity status before their omicron infection.

Other half got her booster. Her first 2 shots were Moderna, but her booster was Pfizer. Basically the same symptoms as the other 2,sore,felt like she had a fever, but didn't.Lasted about 3 days.
I have to wait a bit for my Pfizer booster due to being in a medical research study until the next blood tests. Did manage to get the flu shot though.

I am anticipating a 4th shot will be needed in the future. The genetic makeup of the omicron variant is different enough from the original strain (used to make all the current vaccines) that any new variants from omicron are going to be even more different than the vaccine produced immunity. I would anticipate the 4th shots will be based upon either Delta or Omicron.

Do you want proof that masks actually work?
Masks are not designed to filter air
They muffle expelled air travel distance
It's winter so when you see your breath, it's moisture from your lungs.
Go outside with another person. Take turns exhaling and seeing how far your breath travels. Then mask up. Do it again. This is a great learning tool. It's also undeniably accurate
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Quote: And wearing a mask (properly) isn’t just about protecting others. New research suggests that a mask reduces the volume of germs the wearer breathes in, protecting the wearer from getting sick. So if you leave your nose uncovered, you’re breathing in more particles from the air around you, putting yourself at greater risk of catching COVID-19.

I saw this. Based upon apparent waning antibody levels, the poor protection against Omicron by Pfizer’s vaccine, and the lack of politicization of combating Covid-19 in Israel it makes sense they would roll out another round of vaccinations. Higher antibody levels can help offset the poorer protection against Omicron.

Both my wife and I had the J&J in May, and the J&J booster 3 weeks ago. Neither of us has had any side effects.

I had covid few months ago, few days after my flight from Mexico. I spent few extra hours in a bed cause i felt a little cold and headache. I had cold-fx medicine at home (ordered some time ago from online pharmacy) and took it two or three times. Didn't feel my best for about 3 days, after just stayed in quarantine and enjoyed tons of movies. I am vaccinated with Pfizer

Hi all,
Had my booster (moderna) yesterday. This morning the injection site is tender if I forget and bump it.
50 mg dose. I would rather that they would have done 100 mg.
