When? Tioga could close for winter at the first storm. Already listed as icy. Glacier point is already closed.

Will be traveling on 10/18. Middle of October. Another route around the park to the North on hwy 108 is also suggested. It is longer but would it be better or safer. Thanks

Sonora Pass is a no no. Also subject to snow closures and that 23% grade is no fun at.

Stay away from Sonora and Ebbitts passes at 24% and 26% grades. CA108 & CA4
If Tioga is closed you will want to continue south to CA14 and CA58 to Bakersfield. Or go north and cross at I80.

If Tioga is open, you’ll have no problem. CA 4 is a different animal. If open don’t try it with a trailer. I did as a kid and it was very…interesting.

120 west from 395 is scheduled to close at 4pm today, 10/17, for an incoming storm. It may or may not reopen before the winter season starts.
