Thanks guys. I do get it that IS is simply a better set up
I do have disc brakes so I understand the day/night difference.
Disc brakes will be a requirement for my next RV.
I'm still a working stiff so I simply don't use my RV enough to warrant IS suspension. But I imamagine my retirement RV will have IS.
My plan is to get factory disc brakes next tme.
I have a hard time taking a brand new trailer straight to the shop to have everything replaced!
I understand replacing the brand new factory suspension
maybe the only way to achieve the IS goal. But there are a lot of brand new parts that were just paid for going into the dumpster. Really seems wasteful to the point there must be a better way?
I am hopeful that when the times comes for my next rig, that IS and disc brakes will be available as a factory option vs. the aftermarket trash and replace approach.
I'm not sure that anyone currently factory installs IS with disc brakes, but if available from the factory it would really sway my buying decision.
In the mean time, I'll enjoy my disc brakes and daydream of a retirement rig with IS one day.
Thanks for the first hand info on IS. This thread has been very enlightening.

When we were at MORRyde in 2018 they had a bunch of DRV fifth wheels sitting around. DRV installed the IS at the factory then sent them to MORRyde for aligment.

Luxe is also doing the same as DRV. We were at MORryde in July and there were several Luxe Toy Haulers there for alignment.

With the sorry road conditions, we have now, even with the IS, you can still expect things to get "stirred" up in the trailer. With the IS, the trailer will still ride much smoother,

We did a tour at Luxe in 2016. Nice rigs, really didn't care for their color schemes. One big surprise there were none with the IS.

I don't have IS but my rigs travels pretty smoothly.
I have a Hensley BD3 air ride hitch. I have accidently left things on the counter and they are still there when I arrive.
Nevertheless as mentioned I understand IS is a better set up.

payload from the RV ? Technically perhaps, but in reality you will have more as the components are so much stronger and beefier...

And lets face it, the RV's payload is a number factored primarily from the suspension components and tires.. and frame

Payload is determined by the RV manufacturer, once determined cannot be changed. Agreed that IS components are much stronger, but changing frame, suspension, wheels and tires does not change the manufacturers sticker.

OK, our SOB with OEM 7K axles comes with a GVWR 16.5K order it with the optional 8K axles and it suddenly has a GVWR 17.9K, that number limited by the Tri-Glide Pin with a rating of 18K. Can't have the GVWR more than the weakest link.
We've had the 8K IS since new, changed Pin to a MORryde with six bolts giving a rating of 24K. Rig is scaled at 19.5K and has over 50K miles in the last 6 years and no frame or suspension isses.
