For me plain old fashion Quaker Oats. Tablespoon of chia seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, squirt some honey on it, hand full each frozen blueberries and walnuts. Small amount of water, not anywhere the usual amount. Nuke in microwave for a minuet. Splash of milk or cream, or both. Breakfast.

One of the things he said to me that stuck with me was that the name of the game is making it as cheaply as possible. Thus the inclusion of more and more air in the ice cream, the injection of more and more water into everything, and inclusion of lots of sugar. Sugar and salt are the two cheapest solids in the food industry, so the more of them they can put in stuff, the cheaper they can make it.
A lot of products like to use high fructose corn syrup in place of sugar ( I think the reason is it’s cheaper): high fructose corn syrup has been reported to be damaging to the liver, in addition to other problems. So I avoid products using that stuff, which is sometimes hard to do since it’s so ubiquitous. Even though regular sugar has a bad rap , I’d rather use that in limited amounts (my preference is turbinado sugar, aka Sugar in the Raw. Probably not a whole lot better, but I’m more comfortable with that, in limited quantity, of course).

I haven’t had a spoon full of sugar in almost 40 years. Don’t even have a bag of it in the house. So if there is sugar in my Life cereal I’ll jut deal with it.
