I do carry a small knife for opening packages and such now days. I have a larger (hunting type) in the house for same thing... I don't carry much of anything in my trouser's pockets any more save in the summertime (Carry in coat pockets) and do not carry a knife but I usually have one close at hand.
NOTE: some pocket knives are large enough to fall afoul of weapons laws. Yup Folks holler 2nd amendment when they try to regulate guns.. But a 4" knife is illegal.. (At least in Detroit).. Observation only folks will not discuss (3" is the limit in Detroit in case you wonder)
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Was it called a P-38? That number is floating around in my head.

Those little P38s have stabbed me enough when they open by themselves. No more. They are also too close to the lowest ranks in the service.

I've carried one for some 50 plus years. Carried one during school all the way through junior high and high school and never once was anything said about me having one. Lot of others carried them to. I have somewhere around 100 pocket knives and 40 or so fixed blades hunting and self defence knives.

Back to pocket knife; I started carrying one before I started school. And the only time I have not had 1 was when I had no control over the door. And about 12 YO I got my first Buck 110, that lived on my belt for most of 30 years.

P38 is what we called the can opener that came with C rations. My knife is a Case Stockmans. Personal gift from a friend before going over. Wore one out, sent it to Case & they replaced it. Still carry the replacement.
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

I have at least 20 pocket knives. I got them from various promotions. Most of them are pretty good quality, like Buck.

Have carried one for as long as I can remember. Don't recall getting my first one, but probably was a gift from Dad when age appropriate. For about 40 years it has been a 3 blade Buck. But there have been two of them, because I had to surrender one to airport security back a few years ago. It is such an automatic thing to stick in my pocket every morning. I immediately bought the same model replacement after that trip. I used it almost every day for something, mostly opening packages these days. Great wire stripper when needed. Decent small screwdriver in a pinch, like changing small batteries. I've even field dressed a buck with it when I accidentally left my belt knife back in the truck. Cut fishing line. I can't imagine how people survive day to day without one.

Always carried Buck since I was a kid. Just bought a new Buck from Amz - The Buck Store - and it's defective. First one ever. ![[emoticon]](https://forums.trailerlife.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/frown.gif "frown") So, hit return window, and it says 'Non-returnable item' ... never heard of that on Amz. So will write a note to Buck offices and ask 'why not', with the lifetime warranty it posts.
